It's that time again. Every couple of years or so an MP decides to get some press coverage by suggesting that Britain should fall into line with Continental Europe and maintain British Summertime all year long. Personally I think that it's a good idea but, even though The Prime Minister is making cooing noises, I expect that this proposal will go the same way as it's predecessors...........nowhere.
What do you think?

Sounds good to me, I don't really enjoy going to work in the dark, working indoors for 8 hours, then coming home in the dark as well, shame they'll spread their butt cheeks for the scots though or it might have a chance of happening.

I'd rather scrap BST and keep GMT all year, it's annoying when you're trying to get to sleep and it's still light enough to read a book. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.

quite happy to abandon the stupid clock changing, but if we're doing it we should standardise on GMT, I Want my fricking hour back
Also quite happy to be standardised with Europe, provided they move themselves off their lazy disorganised European time zones and move to GMT we can all be happy.

If we aren't going to change I also think we should stick with GMT, afterall we are in that timezone. ____________________ My Flickr |

Well it's not as simple as that is it?
For example, even though most supermarkets are open 24 hours, there are still over half that open at 8am. So when winter comes I will be leaving in the dark and coming home in the dark when I finish at 4ish.
If you keep the clocks at BST, it will then mean that for a lot of working people they will be driving in semi-daylight instead of darkness and there have been countless studies made which have proven that driving in the dark in the evening is must more dangerous than driving in the dark mornings. I mean this is obvious, when you have just woken up, you are much more alert, so driving in the dark isn't that much of an issue. After working 8-10 hours and then operating a vehicle in the dark will be succeptable to lapses in concentration.
I don't get the argument that Scotland must change the clocks with us because we are the United Kingdom. You don't see the whole of the USA on the same timezone do you? ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it.
