...bicycle! Evil or Very Mad

Left the bicycle and motorbike chained together at the flat whilst away on business, and on my return the locks are cut and my bicycle's missing!

Motorbike's totally fine, guess the alarm spooked them? Either way I feel the need to buy some more security for the proper bike. Can anyone recommend me a good disk lock?

I'd keep the pushknacker inside. If it is used for commuting then Almac do a pushknacker chain. Thumbs Up

Almax series 3 chain is pretty indestructible, will probably cost you as much as a replacement bike though Laughing

Always figured a disk lock is just a disk lock, they are either going to put the bike in a van, not notice the lock and drop the bike on the drive because of it, or notice it and leave the bike. Can't see somebody actually trying to get a disk lock off.

No room in the flat/stairway unfortunately Sad Just used it to (try to) keep fit.

Of course my Oxford chain doesn't look like it put up much of a fuss. The disk lock appeals because I can take that with the bike... unlike the Titanic's anchor that is the Almax.

Check out the vids of the Almax chain, seriously they broke the cutters trying to get through it, I think MCN tested a bunch of chains and oxfords top of the range chain was done in a matter of seconds.

It seems counter productive to buy any chain other than the Almax.

Those Oxford ones might be half the price, but they wont stop an attack for any reasonable amount of time. So what's the point? If all you want is a deterrent, buy an alarm. If you want something to stop someone taking your bike, spend some decent money on a chain.

I have an alarm fitted, but I need something to take to and from work. I don't have anywhere to put an Alamx Confused

They had a deal on at one point. You bought the chain and lock and got one of those tail packs to transport it in.

I use a disc lock the majority of the time. It's a Xena something 14 (xn14?). It's a nice solid lock and is very visible. The alarm in it was shit though, and eventually malfunctioned and kept going off for no reason, so I took it out.

But It's not going to stop two blokes lifting it away.

I'm loving the pragmasis chains at the moment.

I'm not convinced there's much between them and Almax, but pragmasis seem a mite cheaper and do a 'carry chain' size (only 13mm!) which seems like the sensible compromise- It's all very well buying something that looks like an anchor chain, but it does no good if it's too much of a ball ache to take with you!.

Also, cracking customer service (emails answered at half eleven at night!).

Thank you, this one looks like a great compromise: https://www.torc-anchors.com/proddetail.php?prod=P16-x.x-Untouchable

I can use it as a disc lock when I'm out and about and I have a Squire padlock kicking around somewhere Smile

I have the 16mm protector chain ordered it a few weeks ago. Ill second the great customer service comment when I rang up they didn't have the chain in the right length that I wanted and even though they only do cutting on a monday and thursday in lots, he offered to do it for me that day if it was urgent.

Anyway yeah the chain looks the part and the untouchable lock looks pretty unbreakable to.
