 |
|
I've been offered a Kawasaki Z1000 by a friend, 2007, 7k, £3800. Loads of extras. From what I can work out from eBay/Biketrader/MCN, it seems like a good deal, but is it a good idea for a first bike? Or will it thrash me half to death? ____________________ Responsibility. It's a difficult reality for some. I'm running the 2014 Sheffield Half Marathon on behalf of Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice. Is it a good idea for a first bike?? Well, it wouldn't be my first suggestion for a new rider, but as you said you have 25 years of road experience already that would certainly help IMO.
Will it thrash you to death?? It's definately capable of doing that, but only if you're ham-fisted and/or too aggressive with the throttle.
After all, I did my own DAS after 20 years on 4 wheels - and the first two bikes I tried out after my test was a CBR600RR, and a CBF1000. So, as long as you're sensible and keep control over that right wrist (and try to avoid the old red mist) you should be OK.
For the record I also took a demo ride on a Z1000 just last summer, and loved every second of it... So apart from me being deadly jealous of your opportunity I'd wish you good luck if you decide to go ahead with getting one. ____________________ 1st bike (Sept'06 - May'10) : 1991 GPZ500S / Current bike (since Nov 2009) : 2003 Suzuki Bandit 600N

I've reconsidered. Not only was it too expensive (I didn't think it was worth spending 4 grand on something I might drop - more than once, I'm a realist...) I wouldn't want to be terrified every time I was getting on it. CBR600F for me I think... ____________________ Responsibility. It's a difficult reality for some. I went for a CBR600F
Plenty of power for a few years, handles well and are in general very well made and reliable (except for the one I bought ). |
