 |
|
So, my mate has a WR125 which he loves to show off, and appropraitely he got himself a new exhaust system (the big one is written all over it but not sure if that's the proper name). Anyway, after spending about £300 quid on this exhaust system he's left the baffle in the can, claiming it will reduce performance if he removes it. Now, it seems silly to me to spend that sort of money on something if you aren't going to get the best out of it. So, what are the pros and cons of removing the baffle? ____________________ Yamaha YBR125 (2010) - BROKE! |

Hi
Depends what kind of baffle.
If it is a road baffle designed as a bodge to go in the end of the silencer to keep the noise down then he might gain something from removing it (how much varies on how badly designed it is, removing the road baffle from my Bandits Akrapovic adds about 5% to the power, Marjay had a FAR bigger difference with a can on his old Daytona 955).
If you mean the actual baffle from the silencer then probably nothing to be gained. Just make it noisier.
All the best

I don't know the specifics, but i'll try and describe it:
It's basically a tube with one open end (pointing out of the exhaust) and then small holes around the other, sealed, end. Oh, and it's the road version of the WR. If anyone can tell what i mean from that description i'll be very surprised!
Also, does anyone know the legal volume we have to stick to now? 96 Db springs to mind. ____________________ Yamaha YBR125 (2010) - BROKE! |

Cheers for the help.
I'll see what i can do about getting a photo. Need to find the right plyers to take the baffle out first though! ____________________ Yamaha YBR125 (2010) - BROKE! |
