My sisters NSR isnt firing up. It sparks on ignition switch but wont turnover. She said she was riding it the other day when it went wrong, she said there was a lack of power and it backfired twice. When she went down a gear to get power there was none still so she went to first and it over revved then when she pulled off it stuttered again with lack of power. And when she got home it just died on her.
any ideas or suggestions?
I check 2 stroke oil and its fine, petrol fine, i gave the spark plug a clean ( which was covered in oil/petrol, was dark in colour) but still no luck. It started to idle for 5 seconds after the spark plug was cleaned but then stopped again.
any help is greatly appreciated.
cheers.

Check fuel tap and tank filter, you might find that the fuel is not getting through to the carb properly.

i agree about the plug but BR9ECS is bull shit , so buy BR9EIX
other thing , this bike need a maintenance schedule as :
- 7500 miles (or 12000 kms) de-coking plus rings change
- 15000 miles (or 24000 kms) de-coking plus piston-rings change
- 22000 miles (or 35000 kms) top-end change
each top-end openning needs new : base cylinder seal , cylinder head gasket , oil seal (valves shaft) , small end bearing , 2 clips ,piston pin (about £30)
piston is about £31 , rings £22 and a complete top-end £220
i recommand you schedule at least a rings change . but if you want to change the piston you need to dismount the barrel to see what letter is hammered under the exhaust port . see example : https://www.geneva-racing.ch/~alains/lettre.jpg (it's a E) . you must buy piston with the same letter or the same size . pistons size are A to E but if it's a E price is awful and you may fit a D
PS sizes are in the workshop manual
