Blown fuses, smelly smoke?
Try disconnecting things, remove all fuses and put them in one by one until problem occurs.
Need more info.

basically whats happened this week is ive charge the battery 2 days ago disconected from the bike, then its went dead over night, ive been bumping it and its charging by the alternator it will still start after a hour or so after its been running, this mornin it was dead, i tryed charging it wen the battery is connected to the bike and it wudnt charge had it on for a hour and half so shud of started, so i bumped it and rode it for a bit and now its got charge but obviously its gna die in bout a hour.

and i cant even get it into a garage till monday because the guy who owns it is off this weekend.

This is probably a noob question but the wire that stops ur bike starting wen the stand is down is disconnected would that be doing anything?

Help is appreciated.

Side stand switch will not cause the battery to be drained Thumbs Up

Do you have heated grips fitted?

How old is the bike?

It may just be a case that the battery has come to the end of its life Thumbs Up

Is there an alarm fitted to the bike?
As something is draining the battery and that is stopping it from been charged when it is connected to the bike.

Your charger, is it actually a BIKE battery charger not a car one? as the latter puts out too much ampage and basically warps the battery.

Have you been jumpstarting the bike from a car?

Jump starting a bike from a car will not harm the bike or battery (unless it runs on a 6v battery) Thumbs Up

He is right, a car charger will fry your battery as it charges them too quickly Thumbs Up

Magnets and coils connected to the spinning engine, like a normal generator would basically, just... smaller as it only needs to generate small amounts of power. I'd check for shorts in the wiring somewhere. Get yourself a multimeter and start going over things. Check for continuity between positive wires and the bike frame (earth point).. there should NOT be continuity. If there is, it's shorting somewhere.

Right bought new charger + battery , charged it up, took it out, put voltmeter on it , read bout 12,55 wen it stopped going down fast. watched it over next 4 hours and it dropped to 12.47 . so its draining isnt it ? or should it drop to about that? 12.47 is about 80 % battery.

with everything off
try putting the meter on the positive terminal of the battery / battery lead and onto the engine block
if you get a reading you have a problem, its possible you have a wire or wires shorting
or the insulation has broke down or split and earthing

inspect all of the wires you can see looking for cracks in the plastic shield or any sign of burning
maybe around the headstock as the movement there can wear the insulation away
and leave bare wire
