since mine ate its carb slide earlier this year, i figured i'd give it an overhaul as required.
no damage was caused by the shard sucked in, so cleaned it out, and replaced the rings as the old ones were approaching out of specness.
question being: what's the run in on something like this? most rebuilds i've done have been rebores with completely new components rather than a partial like this one.
i'm thinking a few miles of taking it easy then treat as normal? or am i missing something ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. what do heat cycles have to do with rings? ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. hmm. whatever works for you i guess. i personally think thats a crap way to run something in, but then again theres no proven method.
ill take it safe and take it easy for a tank full first as if it was a whole new piston/bore. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. ann thought was just the ring you changed.
id say take ti easy for a few hundred then screw it .
saying that when i rode my ns slowly the ring died so the garrage gave me a new ring piston and barrel and i just shagged the arse off it from the day i picked it up and she did 16k on that ring and piston ____________________ Current >Cb600fx hornet, ns125rk90 21.7bhp@wheel<

Different people will say different way's to run a bike in.
I went off this guide here, which basically says ride it like you stole it.
I know it's not a full build, but this guide does talk about getting rings to seat properly in some detail.

Id just get the motor upto temp riding around then use all the rev range without bouncing it off the limiter, just dont put massive load on the engine. ( i.e high gear, low revs, then giving it the beans) ____________________ Suzuki GT250 x7------- Fazer 600------CB250RS------Aprilia Rally 70----- Bandit 600
