It seems kind of silly to have a 1200 which is not as fast as a sports 6... ____________________ [Current Bikes - GSXR-750 K5 & C90-97 ] [Previous Bikes: Runner 125, YBR 125, GS500, Bandit 600, Hornet 600, ZX6R-99, C90-99, R1-99, XT600E-04, GSXR-750 K4, CRF250L '16] |

I think the fact that they are built to a low budget adds to their character. I love the grunt of their engine, infact, I'd say my old bandit 12 was the most fun bike to ride around London. Wheelie tastic. |

I have only ridden the 1250, It was alright, plenty of grunt but the engine was very dull, it wall like a sewing machine the seat was uncomfortable and handling wasn't brilliant, brakes where ok and the ABS was dogshit. It was crap on fuel too.
I prefer my TDM, engine is more interesting, much comfier, lighter, better handling and far better brakes. It isn't as quick but is better on fuel.
I just feel there are many better bikes out there. The only saving grace is they are cheap, but I would rather buy a second something else than a 1250 bandit, I don't think it knows what it is, it is too crap on fuel and short ranged to be a tourer also too uncomfortable. Not nimble enough to be a sunday toy, and just not mean enough to be a muscle bike.
Can't speak for the 1200 though never ridden one. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.

Are turbo'd bikes harder to ride? I mean, the non linear power delivery as the turbos kick in must unsettle the bike as you roll on the throttle in corners? |
Afraid I have never had a turbo bike ( ). Most bikes have a non linear power delivery (what you feel is the change in torque) but with a turbo you will have lag between opening the throttle and the turbo waking up. At least with a bike they are light enough that they will still have half decent off boost performance to disguise this a bit.
However there are issues with suitable fuel, locating the turbo / air filter for sufficient ground clearance, difficulty in mounting an intercooler, sealing the carbs and providing them with a pressurised fuel supply, etc.
As to power, Mr Turbo reckon on 175hp from a Bandit with one of their turbo kits running 10psi (although they are also recommending running race fuel for anything over 9psi, and that is a draw through system). 150 is pretty easy to get from a Bandit with conventional tuning and I think I would want rather more than 25hp for putting up with a turbo. They reckon 240hp from 20lbs of boost and for that it is worthwhile, but then you into the realms of lowering compression, race fuel, etc.
All the best

Id still have one.
Its the same with the ZRX1100. That only makes around 100bhp, but with a large torque figure. Yet the engine its based on (ZZR1100) makes some 140ish bhp.
I have a real soft spot for the suzuki oil boilers and i still think its one of the smoothest engines ever made in the way it delivers its power. So i dont really understand why people complain about it being bland considering the introduction of FI on all modern bikes has made them (IMO) far more bland to ride than a B12.
The simplicity of it is also a big hit with me. ____________________ Suzuki GT250 x7------- Fazer 600------CB250RS------Aprilia Rally 70----- Bandit 600
