What type of bolt is this?

I dont have anything to remove it as I've never come across this type of bolt before, so, anyone know what it's called?

I think there called shank bolts. There used to hold on the rocker cover on vauxhall vectras.

(I bought the sockets to fit them for under a tenner a set from the local car factors.)

it looks like a male torx nut which your need a female torx socket set or similar

A normal 12-point socket should fit that.

Cheers everyone.

I didn't really want to use a set of molegrips on it, I'd rather get the right socket for it.

So, for those that said a male torx requiring a female torx socket, take a bow Very Happy Thumbs Up

And Pete, you are right, I could tap a 12 point over it, but hay, it's an excuse to get a few more tools Wink
