bike not running right

basically my bike has lost power and feels like its running on one cylinder. it was running fine and i ran over a few bumps and it lost power and can.t do more than 20 mph. tried fiddling with the ht lead and it runs normal for a few mins then back to slow.

the HT leads all connected securely,maybe there jumping off

i think that's the problem really. because i couldn't get my hand in to proper ram the ht lead on. if a clips come lose do i need a new ht lead? will whip the fairing off and fiddle with it.

might aswell get new HT leads


i've heard that if the leads not on the plug or earthed out it can damage the whole coil,but that could be BS

Well i'm bringing this topic up, the problem is back, HT leads are fine, spark plugs look fine, apart from the front one had a bit of carbon deposit on it.

Checked the air filter which is fine.

It starts on the button but idles very badly and will not idle without the choke on now, still seems like its running on one cylinder also.

Any ideas?

is the mixture screws turned to the spec ?

maybe a compression test.

what bike is it?

arrr is this the twin?

spray some water on the exhaust pipe of the cylinder you think isn't firing when you've ran it for a while

you'll soon see if its firing if it starts to steam

Yeah ts a twin, shall give it a try in the morning. Its weird as its come on suddenly. Was running beautifully before this.
