Fiesta Mark 5 1.25

I press the button to turn it on and the light comes on, however it doesn't do anything (both sides of the screen not working) and the mist stays on the windscreen.

I don't think it could be the fuse as the light wouldn't be coming on?

Any help is much appreciated.

EDIT: I have looked in the owners manual and cannot find a fuse for the windscreen and believe it is on a relay instead?.

Thankyou very much,

Tim.

no such thing as an unfused electrics in a modern car. the switch is on a different circuit to the actual window as yes, it will have a relay Thumbs Up

Just be lucky you had one. Wink

Hi

Would suspect there is a feed for the switch to power the on / off light and trigger the heated window (probably taken from the fused circuit for the dash lights). However it probably triggers a relay, and likely the relay has its own fused feed (or possibly has a fuse on the relay).

All the best

Keith

It's not supposed to clear mist. It's designed to melt ice.

In the manual under the "Relays in the central fuse box" it has the heated front screen down as "Relay II" - Green. But looking under the bonnet nothing is clear.

I went through all the fuses in the Central fuse box and they are all fine.

Mist is cleared by putting fans on with heat...

Those tiny little wires running through the windscreen melt ice...

Hi

Your car mists up because warmer moist air (and breathing generates plenty of that) condenses on the cold windscreen. Warming the windscreen prevents it condensing, so warming it up using either the heater fan or a heated screen should stop it steaming up.

Air conditioning demists the screen by drying the air, removing the moisture.

All the best

Keith

I bloody hate these things. Every so often I realise the wires are there and focus on them, which is rather annoying. Thankfully I very rarely drive a Ford so don't have the problem. Shame, as I'm a Ford man. Can't see me owning any Ford built afer 2000 or whenever it was they brought them in. Sad

Please don't tell me you use your heated rear window to melt ice!

The heated front window serves the same purpose as the heated rear window - to clear mist. As an added bonus, if you wait long enough, you'll find it melts ice too.

I love Mondeo. Had a Focus prior to the Megane I had last. Missed the heated screen sooooo much in the Renault. Glad I'm back with Ford, that screen's invaluable on a winter morning...
