Ok after much riding in the shitty weather down country lanes with no lights i've come to the conclusion that the cats headlight is about as useless as an australian at rugby.

If i got a more powerful bulb would i have to change anything else? or would it be ok just getting a new bulb?

You mean you want a higher wattage normal bulb, or a Phillips blue type one?

Anything aslong as it's stronger than the current one.

Depends on the bike and the wiring. You can get higher wattage headlight bulbs but they are not legal on a bike that new (limit is 60w, but that is power consumption, not the amount of light). There are better bulbs available, but there are also plenty which are just there to have a slightly blue tinge and look "good".

If you go for a higher wattage bulb then you stand a chance of melting the wiring. You would be best off wiring the headlight up with a couple of relays. Most bikes pull the entire power through the ignition switch and the wiring on that can burn out (has happened to me on the FZ750).

Also if the larger bulb is hotter you stand a chance of melting the actual headlight (probably not that likely though).

All the best

Keith

You mean you don't understand my scotty talk.
How dare you not know it,
For this you will be dragged into the deepest darkest regions of hell,
and poked for all eternity by little devil men dressed up in kwak green leathers.
