Noticed it in shops before and just noticed it now. TV is on upstairs and running a good 2 seconds faster than the same program downstairs.

Confused

Anyone know why?

What channels are you on ? Sky can run a bit out if you're on multiroom. HD channels also run differently.

Freeview and terrestrial are also out of sync. I'd be more inclined to believe that terrestrial was the correct time and everything else is out of sync with that. The digital processing required for digital signals takes a bit of time to perform.

Could be caused by one being watched on terrestrial signal and one on satellite.
However if they are from the same source I would go with doggone's explanation!

Pretty obvious that you must have turned one of the TVs on two seconds earlier than the other. Rolling Eyes

Quite handy when on the 'phone to a mate and watching a game on TV.
Told him about the goal before it appeared on the SKY he was watching Very Happy

Thumbs Up

Digital (freeview and satellite) are out, as said probably by the processing involved. Also affects DAB radio as well.

Satellite is obviously going to be out because the signal has to travel up to the sat and back down, this takes around 500ms, the signal then has to be decoded by the sat box which will add to the time too. The some modern TVs do post processing (even on an already digital picture) which slows down the output again.
Add all this time up and you can easily get the 2 second delay.
However without more details of the setup this is all merely speculation Smile
