new bike in march....

months away yet but im going to get back on the road next yr, so saving now, and i have small company bonus as well, so probably just under £2000 to spend. looking at early R6, 1999 gsxr srad 600 or 750, bandit 1200, or 400 (zxr 0r nc30 )

heres how i see it....

NC30-
PROS: cheap to buy, unusual (ish) nice engine etc, good handling.
CONS: Never guna be a quick as a 600, need hard work to scratch with bigger bikes ( maybe thats the point?!) complex engine if issues arrive.

ZXR-
PROS: Quickest of the 400's, cheap to buy, never owned one...
CONS: Still a 400, thrashed?

R6-
PROS: Very sexy, Manic engine, always fancied one, Speed, handling.
CONS: Still expensive to buy within its ccategoryin comparison to iit'srivals, 2nd gear woes? ( not sure how often this problem arrives )

GSXR 600/750 SRAD:?
PROS: Pedigree, speed, handling, reliability? its a GSXR?!?
CONS: Common as muck! Ive already had one, thrashed to death?

Bandit 1200:
PROS: Big easy power, wheelys (of course) do eeverythingbike, big following, good looking, very tunable, bulletproof engine.
CONS: Heavy, no top end rush, wont handling like a sports bike.

Now these are the pros and cons that i can think of, im just looking for general feedback or advice on all these models, of people have oownedthem or ridden them or soe of them, any issues that i havent mentioned etc....... There al good in their owen right but im looking to buy only one, so you know how it is.... choices choices

I picked up a 2004 ZX6r B1H (636) with lots of expensive goodies for less than your budget.... so would not consider a 15/20 year old 400.

But prices will be higher when you get around to buying it

Christ! thats a bargain for a 2004 sx6r how did you manage that?!!!!

yea im aware that the summer boom will be very much against me at that time of year, but not buy a huge amount i dont think....

eitherway im gettin somthing, cannot stand another yr without a bike, driving me insane!!

yea i do like gixers, but they are common and i have had one in the past, thy are great dont get me wrong but im still not sure, and yea u are right bout the thrashing issue realy

r6 seems to be popular on here, and that interests me a bit, never riden one though so....

What about an early R1? Thinking of getting one next year. I'm sure they don't have the same 2nd gear issue as the R6 & they go for around £2,000.

yea early r1 is tempting, but again ive never owned one, ive heard the handling isnt great etc....
