I used one of these on a DID 525VX chain with soft link rivet:

Cost me £22, it is identical to another one I found an instructions PDF for that was stamped with motion pro, everyone seems to use the same tools stamped with their own logos. It is a good piece of kit, it seems well made considering it is so cheap. Kickstart has the same chain tool also.

The tool did require a small amount of modification to fit the DID master link:

Overall though it is pretty simple, here is the instructions PDF for the tool I bought (well the branded version of the identical tool):

It's very easy if you have a decent tool. I have one from B&C Express that makes doing it pretty fool proof although it was quite pricey at £70. It's already done more chains than my old Motrax one that broke on it's 3rd chain though.

I've done somewhere around 10 chains with my Heine Gerickes own brand chain tool. Cost £65.

I've also done quite a few with mole grips and a small nut at the side of the road in my time but the chain tool is definately the way forwards.
