Desperate man's attempt at a solution, get a tin of WD40 and spray, spray like you've never sprayed before. Laughing

Does the bike bump start? It could be something is grounding somewhere but without looking I couldn't really say mate.

All proper bikes are designed to run in the rain, regardless of whether they have/havn't got fairings. I doubt the rain has anything to do with the problem. Check the current accross the battery.

Mines runs fine in the wet.
I used to have reservations about riding it in the rain. But its never effected it as such. to my knowing anyway.

Try bumping it!
Might be the fact your battery was a bit low, and then pressing the starter knocked it flat.

Try bump starting it and dont use anything like lights if it does start up.

If not your problem lies else where.

My battery is completely shagged, but the bike will bump start.
(just to think i get the starter all fixed then the damn thing kills the battery)
and the battery will not charge, will not hold charge, or give out anything.

Just give the battery a good charging. or just bump start it and ride it round for about 30 mins, should give you an indication...

the battery is fine, as far as i know it aint flat, it was charged last week

it does look like somthing is grounding it Sad

i've left it in a room with a heater to dry out....i'll then cover it in WD40 like Hex suggested Very Happy and try to get it running again

If you've got a multi meter that might be of some use to find out if anything is traveling down to the battery.

Your definetly running quick enough with the bike to bump it.
Like you can hear the cylinder flying up and down.

But if nothing was happening i would suspect it was a fuse or battery.

Try jump starting it from a car, or car battery.

i had the same problem the other week with my XJ900, it was a loose battery connection. whenever i tried to run a large current (starting it) it jumped and lost the connection.

ZX6R isn't that keen on the rain. Whens its really wet, and I'm out for a while, the neutral light comes on Laughing Then when I indicate right, it flashes on and off in time with the indicators Rolling Eyes Laughing

on that note, mine's been misfiring in the wet and seems to not use all cylinders at low revs...though i think that's down to the gaffa tape covering up the spark plug caps...

Don't suppose you accidentally hit the kill switch and didn't notice? Its easily done...

I did that once. Phoned the breakdown people and everything before I noticed.

I rang them back and told 'em "I've managed to get it started so I'm gonna try to ride it home". Embarassed

Laughing

It was the rain Shocked

after leaving it in a room with a heater for 6 hours I got it working again......no idea where the problem was but its sorted for now.....its now got WD40 on most of the exposed areas and i'll prolly have to fork out for some new fairings tomorrow Crying or Very sad

whlist i was farting around with that i noticed another problem

my rear brake master cylinder is shagged from the crash.....i guess when the break lever was jolted upwards it pushed the piston too far an shagged the seals....either way i got DOT4 making its way down the thread that links the break to the master cylinder.....would explain why my rear break is not as effective as it used to be

looks like i gota go fork out for another master cylinder now Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad
