I've recently downloaded some .iso files to the hard drive, and want to burn/mount the files on to DVD's or CDR's

Can anyone recommend a piece of software (preferably freeware, but not essential) that can reliably do this??

If it makes any difference the burner is an NEC DVDRW drive ND-3500AG... and the PC is running Vista Home

You can either mount the image to a virtual drive using something like
Virtual Clonedrive by Slysoft, or if you definitely want to burn them to disk then something like Infrarecorder is nice and simple.
Both of them are free and can be found quickly via Google Thumbs Up

Yeah 7 does it, vista too probably. Right click, send to DVD drive, then write it to the drive and select 'image file' from the options.
If you just want to be able to access the data without having to write it to a disc you can use something like 'Alcohol 52%' to 'mount' it, or some zip programs let you extract it.

Another suggestion for image buring software is if you look on PortableApps.
The software there can be run from USB memory sticks so you're not limited to installing it on your PC and can take the software to the files if required.

For looking at the image contents without burning then there's always Microsoft's own Virtual CD_ROM (it takes DVDs too). If you click here it's the .exe installation download from microsoft.com.

All of the above software is free BTW.

HTH Thumbs Up

Daemon Tool is the best mounting software I have found.

Puppy linux has an amazing tool for putting a bootable.iso file on a memory stick.

It makes the stick behave like USB stick, a removable HDD, a floppy drive and a CD ROM (when you plug it in, the computer sees all four as seperate drives). It'll boot on pretty much anything.
