Bought a cheap battery charger from Aldis a couple of weeks ago.

Dont use the bike over the weekend usually. Bike is garaged, close to a 230v socket.

Would like to connect the charger to the bike over the weekend. But need to pull out the carpet lining and unscrew 4 screws to connect the terminals to the battery and keep the seat up. It's abit of a potch Shocked

My question to you knowledgable lot is ;

Can i connect the charger to the scoot using my underseat cigarette lighter socket Question

What i plan to do is buy a male cigarette adaptor, and connect the other end to the crocodile clips of the charger Idea

Thanks Mark

I suppose that depends on if the ciggy socket is live with the key removed or just with the engine running really. if its permantly live I dont see a problem with doing that as long as there is a fuse somewhere and the battery charger is int automatic type Thumbs Up

Why can't you just have another flying lead off the battery terminals with a connector to plug into the charger (may have to adapt the charger).

This is an option you get with the Accumate/Optimate chargers. Lead from the charger has connector where you can plug inthe croc clips or the plug (socket?) from the flying lead. Means you don't have to take the battery out, useful in bikes like BMWs.

No reason why not.
My Dad's Goldwing had an Optimate quick-access lead on the battery.
He also had a Ciggy lighter socket with an Optimate attachment on the other end. So when he was out on a ride etc, he plugged the Ciggy socket into the Optimate lead giving him access to a 12v plug.

When he wanted to charge it, he would unplug the ciggy socket, and plug the optimate into the quick-access lead.

So no reason at all why you cant charge through a ciggy socket. Just make sure there's no diodes or resistors in the male plug.

Should not need to charge the battery up that often. If you are then you need to look at why.

The type of charger you have is to charge a battery up.... Not leave it connected to all the time.
Good way to end up with a fcuked battery or even worse a fire......

@iooi. If it's the Aldi charger then it is ok to leave plugged in.
It says so in the instructions, plus the specs have it as trickle charge.

Aldi wrote:
* Suitable for all 6 and 12V car and motorbike batteries
* Cut-off function once battery reaches peak voltage
* Trickle charge function
* Charging cable: length approx. 1.91m
* Power cord: length approx. 1.90m

The only thing with this one is the hardwired croc connectors. Would need to be replaced with suitable connector(s) if want to fit a flying lead permanently connected to the bike battery.

Also remember to only use on the motorcycle setting or indeed you may have a fcuked battery or worse (that's why I like dedicated Accumate/Optimate for the bikes). I have this Aldi charger as a reserve plus can use it on the car batteries.

HTH Thumbs Up
