As the title says really, if you were going to spend this sort of money on mods for your bike, what would they be?

This is partly hypothetical, however you could do it for your current bike or use another bike as a base to add the mods to.

It got me thinking as I was considering doing something to the RR for next summer.

So far my list looks like;

Showa Forks
Showa Rear Shock
New Chain and Sprokets, same ratio but maybe a gold chain
Bigger double bubble screen
PC3 Chip
full downpipes for exhaust rather than just slip on
PhoneCharger/Lighter Socket
Gel Pillion Seat
Possibly HRC Repsol Paintjob & Wheels Powercoated Orange

I had Showa Forks and Shock on my 03 RR and they looked nice, gold at front and rear (although that was a black bike).

Chain and Sprokets mainly because mine are getting ropey, double bubble because the one i have on isnt massive and doesnt do that much over the stock one.

PC3 chip, I had it remapped but this would more just be for me to play with the PC3 from a geeky point of view.

Full downpipes because mine are a bit shitty due to commuting in all weathers, its the one bit of the bike I cant quite clean up and it annoys me, I dont commute on it much now so would be nice to keep it looking good.

Phone Charger and Pillion seat mainly because of more longer rides with the GF on the back, shockingly she likes it.

The HRC Paintjob is something I wanted to do the minute I got it, as the 600RR hasnt ever came with that I figured it'd be nice.

I really like this bike, i know its only a lump of metal and for spending this kind of money, I could swap it for a 1000rr, but I dont feel I need a 1000. I like working the gears on the 600 and its rewarding to ride without being too crazy.

I see this as a bike i'd like to keep until i'm old, I want other bikes (A crosser and a sports tourer or streetfighter) but I wont get rid of this one.

I just wanted to do some cool stuff to it, for the HRC Job I would even consider getting other panels and new wheels so it could go back to original.

So with that in mind, what would you do to your current bike (or the bike you want) if you had a few £k to spend on it?

I'd sell my Buell and buy a Street Triple R, or I'd buy a Mito and put my RD350 engine in it.

I wouldn't spend £3k on a sportsbike because it'll be £3k down the drain for something I could buy off the shelf.

If I wanted posh suspension, forged wheels and more power, I'd sell my bike and buy an RSVR.

IMO, if I wanted to do £2-3K worth of changes to my bike, I'd sell it and buy another with the money from the bike + £2-3K

Only time I could justify spending that much money was if I wanted to make a custom streetfighter jobby where I couldn't just buy another bike that could do the things I wanted.

You'd get all that for £3k. Where do I sign!?

The forks and shock alone would be at least half of your £3k.

Personally I'd just buy a new bike.

Hmmm. First thing would be a decent set of cans. Probably Scorps. Next would be a new rear shock to lower the back seat an inch or 2. Probably Ohlins because they seem to be the highest rated.

With it being a firestorm and their inherrent problem of CCT's failing I'd get them done. Get the electrics upgraded because today I had a slight failure and a little fiddle around the battery sorted that out but I'd get it renewed.

As I intend to keep this bike I'd get it resprayed with a Floyd design.

I think I have ran out of money so that will do Laughing

As above, I don't think you can do all that for 3K. If you have the money to burn, go for it.

Personally I would save the money and spend it on a new bike when you fancy a change. The new MV F3 675 might be up your street?

I'd buy a fairly tidy second hand 500cc Enfield bullet, fit a Hitchcocks firebreathing monster engine kit to it ( for a 230% increase in power output), disc brakes, tasty alloy rims and upgraded suspension then buy a C90 with the change.

If I was FORCED to spend it on my bike rather than put it towards a new one then I'd buy (if £3k was enough):

954 frontend with USD forks, with upgraded springs and dampers
Single seat tail unit/undertray
Smaller indicators
600RR rear swingarm and decent shock
Higher rear sets
Pazzos and new clip ons and grips
Paint job
PCIII
st/st or Ti Full system
Abba stand

Actually, if I was going to spend £3000 on a mod, I'd probably buy Bendy a big present, but I haven't got £3000 so I can't! Razz

Like above if I had to spend the 3k on the bike. Rather than buying a cbr6 or something to sit next to the Zed.

I'd go for, ZX10 front end. WP shock or similar built for me. And what ever was left would be spent on rubber and trackdays to enjoy the new handling.

Or I'd take it to Big CC and see what they can do. Hmmmm ... goes off to look at bits for zed...

Stop telling the guy you'd buy another bike! He wants to upgrade and keep it! hehe

My list:

PC3
Full exhaust
Air filter
Quickshifter
Professional mapping
Professional suspension set up
Set of Pirelli Spercorsa
Track day to test it all out!

I think that's my lot.

All aimed at performance and making a trackday that little bit more intense.

On the Triumph, I'd get a full system made get the Cams re done and have the bike matched to suit, I'd get a few bits of carbon made an Brembo MC, a gear change indicator and then a good valet.

On the TDM I would tidy it up cosmetically, fit a 17" front wheel, Ohlins shock and reworked forks. The spend the rest on an engine rebuild with a slight amount of light tuning. And maybe a full system if there is enough money.

Just bought a 98 R1 and love it but after owning some newer bikes I reckon the old carb R1 would be even better with some new suspension/brakes.

Forks from a newer R1
Brakes from a newer R1
Carbon fibre wheels
Flatside carbs

I think if I added up every mod I'd done to my bike, it would come to more than £3k! Sad
