mate its a flat battery, dont worry about the multi meter etc just get a battery, ive worked on 100's of ybrs and have never had a single problem with the charging system... the battery it self on the other hand is a cheap peice of crap that doesnt like the cold very much... get your self a new one job done
the battery on the mark 1 ybr is not a maintanence free battery so you could check the lvls and make sure the battery isnt low but to be honest the batterys dont cost much more than £20 so just get one anyways
On the mark 2 ybr they changed the battery (among other things, fuel injection etc) to a sealed for life battery that was better, if your battery is black and sealed then u have one of these gel batterys and need a new one.
It sounds like u have a mark 2 ybr and having a gel battery would explain why it didnt charge on your ride, because once there flat...they tend to stay flat, so again... go shopping for a new one  ____________________ Bikes owned :- 2001 nsr125, 1999 zx6r, 2006 yzf-r1, 2009 xmax 250, 2012 yzf-r1, 2015 MT-07
