I've just searched the uk ducati forum. No joy.
You can search the american one Wink

They're £5 each if that helps at all.

If you prise the water seals out there will be code on the edge and then you should be able to find the size.

Bearing races are manufactured to international standards except for specialist applications with peculiar requirements. Where bikes are concerned the vast majority are common-or-garden sizes and given reasonable care (no invasive power-washing) should pretty much last the expected life of the bike. The only sure-fire way of knowing for certain is to get them out and read the numbers on them, they will almost certainly be off-the-shelf items at a decent bearing supplier. Get good stuff, FAG,SKF or a recommended brand, avoid un-named gear in plain boxes, they're cheap for a reason. I've had WOP bikes for the thick end of thirty years and what the 'book' says isn't necessarily true.

I'm betting this is for a project so he doesn't have the wheels yet and just trying to find out if he can use them.
That right Matt Question

cheers guys.

mick, yes you would be right but shh!!! Very Happy

hmmnz, thankyou for taking the time to research it. I asked a couple of ebay sellers what diameter the 999 spindle was and they reckon 32mm. hopefully thats right because id rather the bearing be too big for the spindle than too small

Ok I didn't realise.

Some bearings are specially ground out to except larger diameter spindle/axle.

32mm for a spindle?? they must be smoking crack, you obvisously realise how big 32mm is, far too big for any bike ive ever seen, especially as something as lightweight as a 999

The larger the spindle size the better/lower the rolling resistance and load.

Remember the Melling Norton those bearings were massive the id must have been 80mm.
