Yes i know, its not been great so far.

Anyway its running ok and the full range of the throttle is usable and the bike rides fine.

However when slowing down there is a load of backfire through the carb! What is up with it? Is my timing off? Too advance?

Help!

guesing its a 4 stroke ? could be the valve/ rocker arm clearances or the timing could also be the carb on the other hand. i dont know to be honest i would just check the valve clearances and timing if its easy to do, if its 4 stroke just take off the little covers on the rocker cover (above the head) and put the engine to Top dead centre then put a feeler gauge inbetween the exhaust or intake valves and the rocker arm/s (what ever one is loosest) then set them to the correct settings, rotate the engine over 360 degrees to Top dead centre then do the same for the intake or exhaust (what ever you did not set) may help you and at most will take an hour to do the job and also may help your performance if they are sloppy or to tight on clearance.

Anyway, away from planet derp - Check the timing and also bare in mind it could be an airleak. Does the bike idle properly and settle down quickly after being revved?

Cheers Blue

Will have to check the timing other than that the bike idle sweet as a nut and pulls hard in every gear.

Revs do settle down quickly so that should be a good sign i hope.

Running retarded I would imagine loss of power and popping backfiring at any revs. Although retard timing starts easier.

I hope its not too advance cos I don't wanna hole the piston. (newly rebored)

Its only started doing this when i unblocked the main jet. Yes it was blocked to buggery!

cheers

GP125 is pretty much the same bike, with a larger capacity.
