Bearing shell stuck in wheel?

Well I am in the process of removing the wheel bearings from my brothers 50cc bike, and I am stuck!

Any one have any ideas at all on how I can get the outer shell of a destroyed bearing out if the wheel? I can't get a decent grip on it with anything and it is very irritating.

Oversized socket and a length of threaded road with some nuts on to tighten down and push out the bearing?

Bearing puller, or putting a bead of weld on the race face which might shrink it and let it drop out?

I tend to knock these out from the other side using longer drift.

I remember reading another thread about the same problem, albeit with a sprocket carrier bearing rather than a wheel bearing.

The balls from the bearing are long gone, their wasn't a single one left when I took the wheel off and had a look, I've just taken it to my local garage, it shall be picked up in an hour and cost me less than £10 so problem solved.

Run a bead of weld around it, it will cool and shrink the bearing and it will just drop out.
