You'll have to suck it and see. The 156/157FMI in your bike is a close copy of the CG125 lump internally, but the mounts and ports may not be 100% compatible.
Also, as Rob says, the electrics may also be an issue - the crankshaft position sensor from whatever CG125 engine you manage to source might not be compatible with the Hongdou's CDI.
The short answer is that it'll be close, and you can probably make it work, but you should consider carefully whether it's worth your while.
What's up with your current engine? Parts for the 156/157FMi are readily available. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Right, then measure up the mounts on the CG engine with the Hongdou frame, swap the Hongdou CDI to the CG engine and vice versa to see if they work, then get all manly on it. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Sounds more like it'd be easier to sort the clutch out. Most 4-stroke 125 engines sound like a sewing machine, it's part of their charm. If you want it to sound beefier, change the exhaust.
The engines on these Chinese bikes are all internally very similar, as Rogerborg has said. the 156FMI is, to my eye, closer to the RV125 engine than the CG125 externally speaking, that is), so you'll definitely need to check out the mounts.
Again, as has been mentioned already, the wiring loom isn't likely to be the same, so that'll be more work.
[url=https://www.china-parts.co.uk/]These guys[/ur] sell whole new engines, along with all the parts to put together a whole bike, if it so took your fancy. ____________________ '10 SV650SF, '83 GS650GT (it lives!), Questionable DIY dash project, 3D Printer project, Lasercutter project |

Well, in defense of the CSB images, some people do need to learn that this isn't twitter, and we don't care about every banal detail of everyone's lives. As far as I'm concerned, there's no problem with expressing disdain for something that doesn't captivate one's attention.
The powerband thing, yes, that always was crap. It doesn't come up very often these days, though.
As for waiting in the wings to jump on people who make a mistake of some description; it happens regardless of which forum you're on. Yes, BCF is a little less forgiving than when I started, but on the up side, it does weed out some of the dross. Not all of it by a long shot, but it's self-moderation at work, really. ____________________ '10 SV650SF, '83 GS650GT (it lives!), Questionable DIY dash project, 3D Printer project, Lasercutter project |
