Well, to set the scene, me, Brett and Brendon all work for an I.T Recruitment agency in Orpington, So we car share, taking it in turns to drive weekly.
This week was Brett's turn to drive, but as he's skint, he made a deal that if I drive this week again, after payday, he will drive my week next month as well as his own.
So we set off this morning, the Renault 5 was quite low on petrol, but plenty to reach the Tesco petrol station.
Picked Bret and Brendon up, and drove up to Tesco, only to find they have knocked down the petrol station as they are expanding the store!
So we hit the M2 London bound, and the next petrol station was about 6 miles away. Would of made it easily! If it wasn't for stop start traffic.
So we're sitting on the hill just before the Bean turn off, when the R5 cuts out, Sitting stationary in traffic in the fast lane of the M2.
FUCK SAKE.
The 3 of us pushes the car across into the hard shoulder, then decided that we could walk the 2 miles or so to the petrol garage, buy a jerry can, and walk back to the car.
After a short stroll along the hard shoulder, the R5 was out of sight, A Ford Focus pulls in, and offers us a lift to the petrol station.
So she drops her daughter off at work, makes a round trip of taking us to the Petrol station in Gravesend, Then is kind enough to give us a lift back to the car as well.
She couldnt take us right to the car, but dropped us off on the junction where she picked us up, about half a mile from the car.
We jumped out, thanked the lady for all her help, and started walking back to the car.
And then realized, I left the fucking Jerry can in the boot of the Focus.
Epic Fucking Fail. |

So Mr hairdo, Brettles and Brendy all in the car after a trip to the petrol station, all three of you got out and all three of you forgot about the petrol? Did the lady driver have you all so distracted with her fashion and makeup conversation? Either way, lol |

Should of asked the woman to tow your R5 with her Focus to the garage and just grab a tow rope. It would make much more sense instead of doing a return journey and you would of had a full tank. I'm looking for IT work binge so if you got any vacancies with support work, please tell me and I will send off my CV. |

We'd already done about a mile of walking before the Focus stopped. On a motorway so you cant just drive back down the other side of the road.
What happened in the end...
Well I just decided to walk back to the car in case it gets towed away.
And luckily, as we approached the car, the focus blasted up the motorway, and the lovely lady pulled up behind the R5 laughing her head off. So was nice enough to bring it back.
I didnt get a name, but remember the hair dressers where her daughter works as she dropped her off en-route to the garage. So will be taking a bunch of flowers or something round there on Saturday.
As for the recruitment side of things. We deal with Contractors on £300 a day plus. If thats still of interest, then I'll see what we've got.

Oh. And just a quick update on the R5.
I left work Tuesday night, around 6ish. And as we left the carpark, my throttle cable snapped.
Drove the car all the way back to Gillingham (33 miles) using a shoe lace out the window, tied to the throttle.
I did throttle and steering, Brett did the gears.
This all sounds like bullshit. But seriously, anybody who's ever owned an R5 will understand. |
