i have a honda cbr125r , its a nice , lovely looking bike, easy to use , comfortable as its small and light, and im short aswell.
but my problem is the bike struggles to get past or up to 60mph, and i only way around 8stone and im 5ft6 .
i bought my bike from a motorcycle shop, do you think they have added restrictors ? its only 2 years old 2008, everything is standard , would a performance exhaust make it any different , even an extra 5mph or quicker acceleration ? and sound better , i know many of you will say get a bigger bike , but i love this bike but would like it a bit faster. thankyou

Instant cure is to pass your full test and buy a CBR600
You'll pass 60 in first gear ____________________ illuminateTHEmind wrote: I am just more evolved than most of you guys... this allows me to pick of things quickly which would have normally taken the common man years to master

75?! On the clock maybe!
Its got 11bhp, its actually LESS powerful than the 'old' 12.5bhp learner bikes before they lifted it to 14!
Book speed for them I think is 71!
But yeah, would probably benefit from a service.
CBR's aren't restricted, to 11bhp, that's all they are designed to make.
Making one quicker, really means engine mods, and its really not worth the effort most of the time, just get a bigger or more powerful bike. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

Can only speak on behalf of my current workhorse CBR125.
Its got 5000 miles on it, the valves are adjusted to spec, oil is new and chain is tensioned Every single day my clock indicates 85, without fail.
Very very slow to start off with, takes a while to get going above 55mph.
After a solid run down the dual carriageway at about 75/80 indicated, it then becomes more alive (i say alive, you see another few mph )
But I have absolutely no trouble exceeding 70 every day, in the wind and rain. Maybe its time to service it properly.
Oh and in relation to what G said, my bike has no usable 6th gear... it is a straight flat cruising gear.. but you still drop speed like a stone. I rarely use it, 5th gear doesnt seem to hit the red line anyway.. ive got it nearly touching 10,500rpm, but again.. you should be getting faster |

On some smaller bikes if you change up too early you will find the bike doesn't have enough power to accelerate to the point you have enough power.
Always change up just before the redline - at least if you're trying to 'make progress'. |
Lol!
Been trying to get Snowie used to that, but the red-line on the Super-Dream is 12,000... and it actually needs to be buried in the red, to make it shift!
Browsing the other day, had to chuckle when I found a webby by some-one that actually used to drag race one!
They reckoned that the launch technique was to rev it to somewhere well past the red line, and the tacho-needle was tapping the inside of the clock-case..... then try and keep it there feeding in the clutch..... Sounded about right!!
You know, little bikes aren't REALLY A great way to teach newbies to ride responsibly, are they? More how to thrash the knackers off something to get anywhere! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
