What is everyone's opinion on a ZXR750 as an everyday bike for trips to the shop / work / runs on a Sunday?

Are they?

er ok,

The only difference is the actual size. if anything the 750 will be more comfortable and less cramped.

Certainly

I used one as an everyday bike and even for a tour of Europe.

I found more comfortable than the 07 VFR800 i had on loan too and it was a better fit for me then the ZX9R i have now.

I'm 5'10 so tend to get on much better with the prone position than i do on more upright bikes.

In addition i would regularly get well over 200miles to a tank out of my 1991 J model.

The major downside is oil changes every 3k and valves every 6k - kawasakis are rubbish for service intervals

ive had a J and L model and i used both as my only transport, and they were perfectly fine. im quite big and found the riding position quite comfy, its a bit of a stretch over the tank but should be fine unless your short.
the L model was the more comfy of the two, down to having a more civilized rear shock.
it is pretty good in town, but the turning circle is fairly wide.
i commute 50 miles a day on a and b roads and it was perfect for that, even if it encouraged a spirited ride! lol
i used it to go up to the isle of man from the midlands a few times too, and it was pretty good for that, i tended to get around 140 to a tank but i was mixing up sensible riding and silly stuff to.
the sound when you open it up is so addictive! i only got rid cause i needed a more pillion friendly bike!!! id have another in a shot though!

Go find some contemporary reviews of the thing.
In its day, circa 1991, it was a balls out no nonsense, utterly uncompromised, kneel on the floor, stick wrists and elbows on the flags and present posterior for papal inspection, sports-bike.....
with a 'pile-driver' shock linkage, that the Kawasaki CAD system got fucked up.
I suppose the 'Blade changed perceptions a bit, but unless that shock and links been replaced (there were some aftermarket links offered to soften it up a bit).... practice the possition.... you'll need to get used to it, either riding the bike, or getting treatment from it!

Yes, they are totally different. I've owned both. The 400 is tiny compared to the 750.

the L model had a redesigned shock and linkage that actually worked better than an iron bar! lol

The rear was hard, makes my 9R seem soft. The ZXR750 had the best front end in the business though.

Get an early blade or a C/E/F ZX9 already. More power, more comfort and more reliability for little to no more expense.

hmmm not really, ive owned both the zxr400 and 750, and i can say without a shadow of a doubt that the 750 was far more uncomfortable,
it was dubbed the mobile torture rack,
harshest ride ever, awesome bike though
