Just posting so everyone can criticise,

Been sanding down the fairings, only got to do the front and rear parts (but leaving those until I have 2 days off to sand and primer due to needing to use the bike almost daily for work).

I've primer'd the sides and belly pan, and going to apply another coat of primer just to touch up and get a perfect layer.

As promised, here are some photo's (apologies, I don't have a digital camera since I broke the last one, mobile phone quality):

Tell me about it.... I had a 10MP camera, but it fell out of my jacket pocket about 6 months ago onto the road and under a lorry..... Sad

The primer has come out well, only need to go over one 5cmx5cm part on the last panel I sprayed as I ran out of primer at that point. lol

Hopefully, if all goes to plan, it will be black with a tint of dark purple, and I'm getting dark purple nuts and bolts all over, along with screen bolts, levers, foot pegs, anything metal really. lol.
If I can't buy it, then I will buy a new part in whatever colour it comes in and get it powdercoated. Very Happy

Not really much to update about really...

Kinda hit a wall, that wall being the bank screwing me over on bank charges, so money that was for primer and paint, has now disappeared.

Until Friday, then it's payday again and I will be buying supplies.

As for the comments about not being sure on the nuts and bolts, heres some pictures of the ones I will be buying:
clicky

And for various other nuts: click here

And YES, I realise these are for the '98 onwards mitos, and mine is a mk1, but I've call the company and the parts I want do also fit my bike. Thumbs Up Very Happy

Getting there, payday and I've got the primer and paint.

To anyone who reads this:

I'm after ideas for decals for my bike/ designs.

The bike will be all black with, as above, dark purple bolts.

Suggestions?

I was thinking of this, but I'm worried it might look too plain.... But with the purple nuts (see here ) I'm hoping it should look good. Smile

if you colour code enough other things (the right ones though) it will look nice, like if you do levers, hoses etc etc, but dont go mad. i recon that would look good

As above, I'm now thinking I will have the bike all black, and colour-code the nuts and bolts, screen bolts, brake lines, banjo bolts, the wheel nuts and the disk brake nuts.

Might go for a wavy disk as it's the same price as a standard one, yes I know it chomps through pads faster, but I need to do something about the current disk/ pads.

Can you think of anything else that could be colour-coded?

I will be having titanium bolts, on that tasty nuts website they have polished stainless steel bolts.... Only down side is rather than the entire set of nuts costing £32, they want £132....... Sad

Was thinking that, but I don't know/think any paint would stay, unless I had them powdercoated...

Have the original Mito graphics re-made in purple instead of white(?)

Also, anything your foots gonna touch (footpegs and heelplates etc) would have to be anodised, powdercoat will slowly rub off, its stronger than paint, but not as strong as anodizing.

Exhaust hanger would have to be anodized too, heat would melt powdercoat.

@Digitalize: I was thinking that, but the graphics that are on the bike now are different to every other mito's graphics that I've seen...

Anodising will wear off too. Especially on rearsets

Just done the second coat of primer on 2 parts of the fairings, now got to do the second coat on the belly pan, then sand, prime twice and spray the front and rear panels!
Slowly but surely getting there!

I now have 8 cans of black gloss paint, 3 cans of clear lacquer and 3 cans of grey plastic primer, so enough to complete this, if not I'll just buy more of what's required. Smile

Here is the side fairings with second layer of primer, sorry for poor quality(p.s. I will be getting a digital camera soon as it's my birthday in 13 days(!), so will take better pictures, but should be finished by then!):

1 can of black paint would probably be enough.
Get them perfect with the primer and rubbing paper (not too smooth though!) Quick lick of paint to cover the primer, then laquer the shit out of them.

I've used 2 large 500ml cans on just 4 panels, two that have 2 layers of primer (now ready for the black. Very Happy)
I've got the front and back panels to do (I'm doing 2 layers of primer on each panel) and one more layer of primer for the belly pan too.

I've now got some string, so I can hang the sprayed panels from ceiling to dry. I only had 2 pieces of string before so could only hang 2 panels at a time.

I aim to have all the panels sprayed with primer by tomorrow night. Thumbs Up Very Happy
