Hi BCF workshop,

I've serviced my rear drum brake, new shoes, oiled the moving parts and all of that but it's still binding. I'm 90% that the problem is with the cable but before I fit a new one I want to have a go at taking the old one out and oiling it, the only problem being that I cannot seem to work out how.

Does the cable pull through from the front or the rear? I can't work out how to remove anything from the cable at either end to allow it to be pulled through... or am I doing something totally wrong? I thought re-fitting the shoes would be tricky, but its the simple looking stuff that I'm struggling on!

Thanks,

- Adam

You will have to remove the complete cable , it should be held in place with a bracket
& I think you have to remove the exhaust to get at it easier, can't remember for sure ?

Also I dont think you will get away with just oiling THAT get a new one. Neutral

That's fine, I might as well get a new cable if I'm taking the exhaust off to get to it. It's probably not something that'll need doing too regularly.

Thanks for your help Rusty Sprocket.

Just look underneath a little forward of where the silencer joins, you should be able to work out the best way to do it .
Take the silencer off first & check But i'm pretty sure it's best to remove the full system Neutral
