So I have bought one of those cheapy ebay jobbies like plenty of you but I have an issue with buying a memory card...

Basically the 8gb Class 6 ones seem to be SDHC. Now are the 'HC' ones compatible or is it for something else? I can only really seem to find SDHC for 8gb Class 6 memory cards so help would be greatly appreciated.

I have found a samsung one for £13 on play.com but this is also a HC one...

Or can anyone recommend one?

Thankyou!

Buy one, if it doesn't work send it back. Or for 13quid keep hold of it until you buy something else that requires sd cards.

I think you need microsd. normal sd or sdhc is too large. Buy this one (sandisk is great make and very reliable. it is much cheaper than whatever you're looking at on play.com):

Both of those are SDHC :/

And what sort of problems would I encounter if it is the wrong card?

Nice and simple, just buy a micro SD card, class 4 minimum. They all do the same, HC means High Capacity.

Some older stuff won't work with HC but I tried 4 or five cards with these cameras and they have all worked just fine.

You'll have to buy a 2GB or smaller SD card for it to be non SDHC, all cards over 2GB are SDHC.

So if it supports greater than 2GB, it presumably must support SDHC.

I asked Veho which class card I should use and got the reply:

Hi 69.9

We recommend a class 6 card.

Many thanks,

SD is anything up to and including 2gig, SDHC (High capacity) is 4gig and higher. SDHC cards are not compatible with everything so read the manual on the device you want to use them with, it will tell you if it's SDHC compatible and if so, the maximum capacity of the card it will take. As an example, both my camera and my field recorder take SDHC cards but the camera can only take up to 8 gig while the field recorder can handle up to 64gig. However, the field recorder could only take up to 2 gig SD cards before I applied an OS update.

One of the problems with some of the cheaper cards and USB sticks (usually those from China) is that they are labeled 8gig or whatever and appear as 8 gig to your computer but will get corrupted as soon as you try to put more than 512 mb data or whatever on them... In other words, they're only 512mb cards that have been reprogrammed and relabeled. Other cheaper cards which do have the capacity aren't always reliable and can fail. Make sure you do your research on the seller and on the cards.

Yep I got that one.

No probelms.

Even works with the old key fob cam.

As other have said check that it will take the size (gig) of the card and you will be fine.
If you have only just got it then 8 gig should be fine.
