Basically lads and ladettes, I have had a new tyre (bt023) fitted a few weeks ago on the CBR, and the tyre seems to lose psi quite quickly. The old tyre did it, so I blamed it on a puncture that had been repaired, but since the new tyre has been fitted it has gone from 42psi to 9psi in 3 weeks. WTF?
Does this mean the rim is damaged? Also the tyre bloke said that my wheel didn't have much weights on it at all, does this affect anything?
Cheers guys, I'm selling the bike in a month anyway so am not massively bothered as I will just do the pressure every week to keep it up 'till then, but would like to be able to resolve this if possible. ____________________ Journalist, student, egotist.

Had this problem before
remove tire and sand down any loose paint on the rim
you will then get a decent seal |

First check the valve isn't leaking. A blob of spit in the end of the valve and watching for bubbles is the traditional way.
Then swill a load of soapy water round the rim. You should see a leak.
You can sometimes get tyre beads to seat properly by taking the valve core out and quickly inflating it to 80-90psi. Another trick is to run a line of neat washing up liquid round the edge of the beads then do the inflating thing. Remember to wash it off again after.
Be aware that tyres can blowout at this pressure, but rarely. It's what they do when they fit them. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

It was a mobile tyre fitter who sorted me out, really sound guy too. I should have mentioned it tbh.
Cheers for the ideas, I'll give it a crack tomorrow when I get up my Dads after work. ____________________ Journalist, student, egotist.
