Picked it up yesterday and am loving the additional power, the additional noise, the additional looks and the additional fairing for the motorway! I'm looking forward to summer even more now!

Just a few things - I have no owner’s manual and have searched high and low for one on t’internet with no luck. I have downloaded a service manual and ordered the Haynes but if anyone has access to an owner’s manual, or knows where I can download one from I will be very grateful!

Also, does anyone know if the HISS alarm has a volume control of some sort? The 3 beeps to turn the alarm off are doing mine and the neighbour’s heads in already!

Other than that all is good so far. I'm going to do a bit of a service this weekend. Anyone got any advice, recommendations or complements about this subtle beast?

I don't think it's a HISS alarm. Look under the seat, you should be able to tell what alarm it has. I'm pretty certain that HISS is just the factory fitted immobilizer.

CaNsA - That was you hiding in the bushes then?? Wink If only your reading was as good as your detective work....I have the service manual. Its the Owners handbook I am after. I can't find it anywhere!

The XJ done me well for 6 months! It had covered 67,000 miles and still going strong - couldn't recommend a better first big bike!

Cheers for that info on the HISS. I thought it was all one system. I'll have a check tomorrow! Thumbs Up

You may want to strip the EXIF data from your iPhone snaps before plastering them on the internet, especially if you live on that road...

Nice CBR though. I do love the CBR600Fs.

I have the same thing in yellow, only things to look out for are rattly noises around 5-7krpm (CCT failure), rusty downpipes and dodgy speed sensors (intermittent speedo failure).

Really good bikes, had mine almost two years now Thumbs Up .

Easily fixed with a long bolt and a couple of nuts.
Convert the existing CCT into a manual one Very Happy

Lovely bikes, i had the 05 model not long back! Very nice on long runs with good MPG for power the produce. Think on a run it was getting 50+

Also the beeping noise isn't the HISS as most of the F models have this and mine didn't beep at all.

I had a manual but i was only the second owner. Try ebay or honda. Owners manual just gives you the basics anyways or 'consult your honda dealer for more info' for every problem!

Some also have a 'bend angle sensor' or what ever they call it that disabled FI if you dont have the light plugged in. I'm not 100% sure how it works but found this out after i cracked the front fairing and removed all this then tried to start it Thumbs Down Laughing Some thing to do with cutting the bike off if it goes down. Guess some one more knowledgeable could clear this up though Thumbs Up

Bank angle sensor

Its a small black box just behind the screen in front of the speedo that cuts the engine if the bike goes down. Leave it alone unless you are a stunter and want to do 12 o clock wheelies or you do the clean air mod and drop the bike on a daily basis.

When I tried the same thing (tried to ride it as a naked) the fuel pump wouldn't prime and the bike wouldn't spark, I presume it cuts something in the ECU and FI but don't know 100%. If you really wanted to you could have bipassed it by snipping and covering the white wire and joining the other two together.

Theres one parked up at uni and i fell in love with it as soon as i saw it! how much did that one set you back? And do you notice that shift in power from your old one. Has it put that (OMFG this is fast! smile back on your face)

Very nice, just got rid of my fx for a blade as it was getting on a bit and I wanted more poke. Already miss the riding position, comfort, centre stand and fuel economy of these. I'd probably get a newer f4i if i get sick of the blade, not much i can fault at all on them.
