Hi

They do not go much beyond that in good condition if they are restricted (well, not without a lot of effort).

Is it still restricted?

All the best

Keith

Eh? Mine's restricted and it does 9,000rpm easily.

Are you trying to rev it up from cold? If I do that on mine it won't go much above 5,000rpm either. Best to let it warm up for a few minutes first. After that it should be going as far as you want to take it.

Hi

Well, I was thinking of in the higher gears!

Will it rev out in the lower gears once warm?

All the best

Keith

If it revs out in neutral no problems, but not on the road then as Kickstart said he could be in a higher gear, and as Kickstart says... It won't rev much past it. (If that makes sense)

So maybe there's nothing wrong, it's just restricted?

Most NS125R's will rev past and up to 10k in gears 1 - 4, once you get into gears 5 & 6 the NS125R will struggle to reach 7k unless your going down hill.

The NS125R I sold last year could rev to 10k with ease, but as soon as 5th or 6th gear was selected the revs just could not reach 10k, the max I got in revs if I can remember was 8k in 6th gear and at times the bike just started to die and overheat, I had to drop her down to 5th just to keep the speed up at 85mph. On a good day, the bike could do 93 - 97mph in 6th gear @ 8,500k, but it was rare.

Sounds like the jetting or mixture could be out on his NS125, or air filter leaks / blocked.
