Very Happy Hi all,

I'm new to the forum, so 'Hello' and thanks for having me.
Nice forum you have here. Some good, 'intelligent' topics and discussions. Not like..ahem..some others..ahem..I've seen. nuff said.
I've got nothing against young riders on fast bikes (in fact, I often wish I'd started riding at a much younger age Sick ), but as a 30 year-old 125 rider, I'm strangely uninterested in the bickery-backery that goes on in some of the places I've visited in my cc range.
I know this is is a 'big-bike' site, but you seem to welcome newcomers and 125ers alike, and the general theme tends to be, dare I say, a bit more more 'mature'.
I say 'a bit' because some of you are obviously still very young at heart! Thumbs Up

I'll keep my debut entry short, but I recently found these links which might be of use to anyone who's interested in knowing the entire history of the motorbike, from 1871 to the present day--and beyond!

AND BEFORE ANYONE SAYS IT, NO THIS IS NOT A SPAM.
I don't even know what's on the rest of this site, or how you access it (you'll see what I mean). I had to do some jiggery-pokery just to get the exact URLS for the links posted below.

The overview's a bit long, but the timelines are nice and quick to read and contain some interesting facts.

Makes for an interesting read--well, it did for me anyway.

Regards,

Ren

p.s. I'm still looking for more info on riding in general (especially advanced riding tips). Any recommendations? TIA

[1925-1959] https://www.mecossemi.com/H3FrameSet_L.html
[1960-1989] https://www.mecossemi.com/H4FrameSet_L.html
[1990-2007] https://www.mecossemi.com/H5FrameSet_L.html

p.p.s. I don't endorse the facts or anything else on this site. I know very little about biking, which probably explains why I'm interested in their history. If any of it turns out to be factually incorrect, please do not sue me (",)

whoops!
it seems you'll have to cut and past the some of the links

Did I do it wrong, or is there a limit to how many URLS you can include in any one message?

TIA

Welcome to the forum Clapping, I'm glad you like it (Korn will be pleased).
That looks like an interesting site you have found - I shall have a proper read when I have a bit more time Smile

You just did it a bit wrong mate, just ensure that the html link is surrounded with the url in square brackets stuff for each separate link.

Welcome to the BCF, I'm sure you'll fit in just fine.

As for us been more accepting of smaller cc machines, this site originally came from www.nsr125.com and a lot of us joined the forum when on smaller machines and have literally grown up with the forum, and as such the forum has grew up with us.

All the best

Welcome,

You unfortunately will find occasional 'bickery-backery', but it can be ignored to the most part and there's plenty of usefull discussions and advice.

Actually, considering some of the more 'grown up' sites, this one is pretty sensible and friendly Razz.

So, what bike have you got then?

Hi
I don't know what you mean about a big site, theres loads of strokers on here Very Happy, all welcome of course, and id say that 50% of the people here had NSR's 125's till a few years ago (including me Mr. Green ) .

Enjoy your stay.

Luke.

I would say that the site isn't *really* a big bike site, its just a bike site Smile

I guess we nearly all had 125's once.

and to ay that we're young at heart indicates that you might think a lot of us are old!

Actually the majority of members on here I would say are 16-25.

This site is quite mature IMO, there's certainly less bitching than somewhere like T595.net Wink This might also be to do with the Fights and Flame wars segment which tends to be used when the ribbing becomes a bit more serious.

Welcome to the forum Ren!

Welcome aboard matey. But wheres Stimpy?? (sorry.)

I'm still on a 125 (3 years down the line Confused ) but will be moving up in the world shortly.

You'd do well to ignore Ste, just lately he seems to be suffering from permanent PMT! Wink

Thanks everyone. I've got a Cagiva Mito EvoII (I think!) W Reg, 2000 model.
Absolutely love it! It's restricted at the mo. I don't know if it's worth getting it derestricted or just upgrapding to a faster bike when the time comes.
I'm just getting as much experience as I can. When I can handle this bike in much the same way I have mastered BMX's, Mountain bikes and so on, then I feel I'll be ready to move on. Until then, I'd probably hurt myself if I could go any faster.

One thing though, I find that riding a sports bike is similar to a racing pedal bike. You know the awkward ones with the funny handlebars (of course you do).
You can't really thrash them around in the same way--they're built for speed and that's about it.

I'm a lot more comfortable with a more upright 'trail' riding position, but I must admit that although it's taking a bit of getting used to, it's great fun.

p.s. I didn't mean that the majority of 125ers are young boy racers, but it seems that many of the Cagiva Mito owners I've come across are.

Kids with parents that have to much money if you ask me mate. Wink

I had my NS125R for a year before I sat my test and moved on to a CBR6, did this for a similar reason to yourself to get the experience etc (also to get the no claims bonus Very Happy ), I'm 26 now started when I was 24 so not a million miles behind you in the age stakes of starting things.

You for one haven't grown since you were about seven years old, nor has Ste, or Danny for that matter.... Laughing

Welcome to the forum Ren Very Happy,
I shall be having a good look at those links, they seem interesting (but I'll wait until I'm not using dial up and on my way to Brownies Wink )

Last time I checked Danny wasn't a scrounger, in fact I think he's around my height range and I'm 5 foot 10.

How tall are you three? I'm not all that tall, 5 foot 7. Well that was the last time I got measured, at the police station sometime last year or the year before. I don't think I've grown so we'll say 5 foot 7. Smile

Hmm, my Dad used to own a pair of plastic platform shoes back in the 70s. Both his brother and him would sport them down the road with their studded jean jackets, flares and long hair. Also he's not the tallest man on this Earth, about 5 foot 5. Quite short I'd say. Maybe you too could start wearing platforms, I'm sure it'd really make you stand out of the crowd.

Thanks, but no. Smile I just prefer to be inconspicuous.
And McJam, I don't have too much trouble riding my bike - although I start to have difficulty when I take a pillion (Hence no pillions Smile ).

Just remember that a lot of great historical figures were of short in stature.

Like Caesar, Napoleon, Nelson, Mussolini, Genghis Khan, Frodo Baggins and of course Hitler.

oh. Sad

Tom Cruise?
