Probationary is the first 2 years of getting your first new licence, if you've been driving for more than that already then you are fine
You can't argue it at all. The last time I got caught, I doubted it alot as I remember seeing the van parked up and pretty much had my face on the speedo which was reading 25mph and I was stuck behind 2 cars driven by old biddies also
I kept asking for evidence as I just didn't believe it and was seeking advice off solicitors who said it's almost impossible to get out of. The police cocked up the paperwork as they forgot they extended my "pay up" deadline, which I ended up doing in the end to avoid the hassle of court and chances where that I would lose.
Few months later I get the summons, I went to court and I argued my point explaining the situation when I was "caught" speeding but due to the fact I'd already admitted it the only thing they could do was give me the original fine and points as it wasn't my fault I'd got as far as court in the first place. I found them pretty fair tbh, £45 fine, £15 victim surcharge (makes me laugh that tbh, victim?) and 3 points.
At best you can keep demanding evidence in the hope of a cock up, but easier option is just to bite your tongue and accept there's not really any way out of it.
Rambling on abit...I've always wondered the accuracy of the handheld ones (assuming it was). They had this big deal a few year ago about if the laser being inaccurate if you moved it along the object and I was wondering if the laser was pointing at the rider rather than the bike, chances are the rider may be moving around a bit. Could this give a false reading? ____________________ Bandit 600 - deaded |

I dont like speed cameras, and have been caught by one.. but they have a good purpose. mostly they catch out shit drivers rather thn speeders.
but anyone shit enough at driving no not notice a bright yellow permanent camera, Im quite happy they get a ticket... same thing if there are warning signs, like your road.
sneaky cameras I dont like. I would be fucking awesome as a traffic copper tho. good thing Im not |

They plaster those signs all over the place so their presence means next to nothing. You're about as likely to see a mobile speed trap on a road without the warning signs as you are with. |

rather than speeders, you cut that from my quote. If your going to speed, you need to be sure you can spot cameras, or dont bother speeding.
You dont agree that speed cameras are a big deterrant to many, many shit drivers? how bad would the roads be if everyone was speeding while being distracted, doing whatever they do while driving their safe cages? there are a lot of people with speeding fines and a very big proportion are poor drivers. |
Define 'shit driver?'
I havent had a crash since getting my drivers license 14 years ago, I think that makes me - not a shit driver, but i have had about 3 speed tickets over the years, and every one of them a van. Does that mean I am a shit driver in your book?
I am on the road a lot and witness lots of bad driving, mostly by people going too slowly, which makes the people behind do crazy overtakes where it isn't safe to do so. That and motorway middle lane hoggers I would say is much more unsafe than someone breaking the limit on a dual carriageway in a controlled fashion.
If I was doing 46mph in a built up 30 limit with houses, schools and kids around I would hold my hands up, but this section of the A5 is very fast running dual carriage with a 70 limit. There is nothing around there, I don't think there is a house in either direction for about 4 miles.
These vans do nothing for safety it's just a cash generator!
I didnt think I would find anyone on this forum siding with the speed camera! Are you a copper? ____________________ CBR 900RR Fireblade |

Actually it obviously meant something in this instance. If you choose to ignore the signs (or miss them through poor observation) then you should not bitch about getting a ticket imo.
If you get a ticket and can prove the Rules And Regulations For Speed Cameras were ignored (ie the camera was hidden, not in plain sight etc.) then you could get let off. As already mentioned, www.pepipoo.com is your friend in these circumstances. ____________________ My YouTube Channel
