i took the tzr for mot today and it failed on two things 1 the chain was too tight which is a simple fix however it also failed as the back break light was flickering and it flashes the same time as the indicator if they are on at the same time
am i right in thinking that it needs a new battery as it seems to be drawing power away for each indicator flash.
would also like to ask if any body knows anything to clean the tank as emptied 14 pounds worth of fuel out tonight and threw it away as it was brown and full off rust and crap so wondered if anyone knew of any possible additives
cheers andy

If you rev the bike up with the indicator and brake light on does it cure the problem? if so its not getting enough juice which would suggest the battery, however the 6v electrics on my old bike (rxs 100) used to do this all the time and that never failed.....

*edit* also there are tank sealants that will stop the rust but if it isnt too bad then why not try an in-line fuel filter for about a pound?

Regards

Harry

Hi

Revving and going dimmer suggests that it isn't charging. Check the voltage over the battery as you rev the engine.

Other possibility for the lights is a bad earth to the rear lights. For a test you can run an extra earth back to it and see if that cures it.

All the best

Keith

Hi

If it isn't charging then the battery will probably not help that much.

All the best
