unstable front end ?

hello all, had a small butt clentching moment, going round a roundabout no to fast but with a fair bit of lean, and felt like the front end went a little, now if seems when im cornering it feels like ive got a front flat tyre, but its not its at the correct pressure, just feels like it could loose grip like the steering is heavy....

Is this me or what should i look at on the bike ?

What bike, what tyres, road conditions, how warm were the tyres, how fast.

zx7r, bridgestone tyres cant remember (if needed can find out tomorrow)
road was dry and smooth no stone chippings, warmish tyres i would guess probably riding for 15 min or so
no too fast only about 30 but it was round and back where i came from.

Its just the front end feels different, slow and not gripping- is this me needing to grow a set or could something wrong with the bike ? tyre pressure fine grabbing front wheel and handle bars there is no play.

ZX7R's are renowned for their front end feel, could just have been something on the road. If your confident all is right with the bike just put it down to something that can happen every day and don't let it put you off. Roundabouts are the worst place for fluid spills, bet it feels ok everywhere else?

Check tire wear, profile & width, brakes aren't dragging, check fork preload and damping.
If all of those are fine it might be head bearings.

Thats what i mean, it feels different after that if i go out now round roundabouts and tight corners the front end feels sluggish, so only last thing to get is headstock bearing, is that just front brake on and rock back and forth to check for play or is there a more in depth way of checking.

they tyre is wearing like how it should i guess, cant be no more than 700mile old tyres.

I've had a rear wheel bearing go, and it felt like the front had gone. Foxed me for a while.

I have heard that,

If it feels funky at the front, have a look at the back.

A twitch from the front end can often be the rear JUST losing traction - as it slides a little bit, the front end twitches in to compensate.

Check wheel bearings front and back as well as head stock bearings and rear wheel pressure too.

I had a similar problem with mine. One day the front tucked on a roundabout but i thought it was just one of those things, a bit of gravel or something. Then over the next few days it happened again several times, mostly twitches but one big one where i had to stamp my foot down injuring my hip. I just lost confidence in the bike.

I'm still not sure what the problem was but a new tyre sorted it despite the old one looking fine. It was a supercorsa race scrub so maybe that had something to do with it.

Race tyres are more sensitive to heat cycles than normal tyres - so go through a lot of heat cycles and they can lose grip before losing 'tread'/rubber depth.
Often see this with fronts, where I'm not really abusing the tyre much on the road to wear it down THAT much, but it's getting heated up and cooled down a fair bit.

ok, tyre pressures are both spot on, front and rear
no play in the wheel bearings or the headstock bearings
the steering is nice and free.
the guy i got the bike of said the tyres were about 200miles old, i have done at least 500miles no more that 700, so tyres should befine right ?
havent pushed the bike that hard but the bike should out do me on handling.

intend to go out on a ride tomorrow just dont really want to ride if its dangrous, if its not then need to build up again.
