Not just stuck, practically welded in.

Last time I took it out I greased it up loads because it was stiff getting it out. Now it is siezed solid. I have hit it with a hammer, the nut on the end is mangled but I can still get it on and off. I had a socket on the side of the head of the axle and was bouncing on the end of a bar. I am not light weight by whatever means. It is completely stuck.

How the hell do I get this out. I don't want to use heat because of cush drive rubbers, bearings with plastic caps, various seals etc.

If I can't get it out in the next day I am taking it to a shop but would rather not.

Get back on the socket end and start trying to twist it as someone else hits the threaded end. Put a piece of wood onto the threaded end to protect it from further damage from the (proper) hammer.

If you can start it turning as someone hits it, then it's just a matter of time till you get it moving properly.

Why the urgency to get it out? Is something else busted?

I'm not home until Monday but I still have the smaller wheel that was on your other bike.

I'm guessing it seized on the bearing or the spacer bush in the center of the wheel so the chance of not having to replace some internal parts is slim.

At worst you need a spare axle. Grind the head off the existing one and you should be able to pivot the wheel out of the swingarm. Swap your shagged wheel for the small one and I'll sort it out at some point over the next couple of weeks.

I think the wheel bearings and maybe seals cost about £10 for a full set.

Just wondering what inside the wheel could stop the axle turning? It only goes through a few bearing and a couple of bushes. Surely they should rotate with the axle?

Is the wheel spinning ok?

Have you done any of your wonder welding and welded the axle to the swingarm by accident?

I havedn't bodged anything on this one, it is just corrosion.

Doesn't spin at all. Socket on the end and me bouncing made the bike wheelie then fall over and break my clutch lever. Laughing

I have a new C&S kit to fit. Not urgent but if you saw my current rear sprocket you may disagree. There are no teeth left and if I rev it slips.

I would rather not destroy the axle but I may have to. Wheel spins fine, barely any friction.

I am thinking maybe single tracker in Crewe can help. If they want to replace everything rather than fix, I will grind off the ends and take you up on that wheel swap offer.

Ugh, chainging c&s on these bikes usually takes about 25 minutes

Just a thought, if you take the torsion bar off can you spin the brake drum? Does the axle bolt stay still?

I'd be surprised if Single Tracker will even look at it for free.
