I bought this wreckage of a zxr a couple of weeks ago,and to behonest, couldnt ride the thing due to having a bad back! It left me very uncomftable!
I had planned to add some risers and renthals, and ride it,but,so far the fairings come off,ive fitted a second hand R1 seat unit, added the proper handlebars, and im happy to say even with insurance it stands me just over £500.[/img]

Thank you for comments.
The R1 seat unit needs to have the (original section)rear part of the subframe removed, and a new one knocked up. I made one out of box section, which took an hour or as i walked around the bike thinking things out. You dont need touch the original battery box/electrics,so very easy to do. The worst part of it was trying to hide the original expansion tank under the pillion seat. A smaller one from a scoooter or similar would probably be the easy option. Next time i have the tail off,i'll take some pics of the subframe section i made. Very Happy

I ran into a bit of a problem today, with the clutch dragging a bit, after bleeding??? I hope its not because its a 90's bike with an R1 seat unit???? I'll investigate tomorrow.

How you getting on with this build?

I wouldn't mind seeing pics of the subframe if you've got any. I've just bought a ZXR streetfighter and I'm looking to fit a different tail to it in the winter.

This is the tailpiece I want to fit:

https://www.joy-tuning.de/shop/images/u8.sale.jpg

I've thought of just removing the rear section of the subframe and doing something with the original front section to fit that tail, but I want the rear section to be able to bear weight (luggage when touring), so I think I'll need to fabricate a rear section.

Just in case anyone reading knows, will a ZX7R tank fit easily enough on the ZXR?

Blue X5 - you missed an important point

Ah a streetfighter made from a 90's bike with an R1 tail piece on it - bought and built for £500 - result in my book, when its cheap you can't be choosy and as he say's he cant ride it as normal!!

Each to their own in my view.
