So in tune with the GPZ's project....

I've bought myself a crash damaged 2002 Triumph TT600 with 24k on the clock.

It's got a bit of fairing damage, and the air intake bits are missing, but it's passed it's MOT like this so it can't be too bad Laughing

Plan is to just strip off the fairing, mount the clock somewhere, and get some dominator lights like i had on the GPZ fitted.

Nothing special, just a tidy up of the bike.

Got a guy coming for the fairings and light and stuff, so the money i get from them will pay for the new lights, and some more tarty bits for it, depending on what I fancy!

Maybe a new exhaust and then a fuel map done for it, we'll see.

Get a square headlight like CHR15 had on his Fazer, rather than the dominators.

Clicky

That's an idea, actually.

Any idea how i'll fit it to the bike with the fairing subframe that's on it? Don't really want to have to make a mount for the speedo and everything, and not sure how to mount the headlight onto the bloody thing.

I could buy two of THESE... would be speed-four-ish... Laughing

Could you make something like this work?

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/fazer-1000-exup-fairing-and-headlights-/130502175470?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item1e62892aee

Or did you want to do something more minimal?

Just need a set of lights and a way to fit them.

I've got a pixie hat screen for the back of the speedo, and i have the speedo obviously...

If i can keep the current frame on it, and mount headlight(s) to that, i'd be happy...

If you could get a pic up of the frame, that might help; I've no idea what that would look like bare.

Here's some pics of the bracket.

https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/Item14428-3.jpg?t=1301527168
https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/Item14428-2.jpg?t=1301527170

The mirror stalks i can hacksaw off and file down/cover...

but the headlight mounts are a wierd position.

I'm sure i could cut them down and drill through for a side-mounted headlight...

No chance you could just chop off everything, leaving the clock mount, then use old skool fork mounts for the headlight?

It's an idea, dunno if it would work.

I just think, whenever I see a bike with something bodged into the original fairing subframe, it looks less streetfighter and more "I've just had a smash and I'm too cheap/unimaginative to do a proper job" Neutral

When you do, post up a picture.

In my mind, there's a fine line between rat bike and fighter, but even the rat bikers know what's aesthetically pleasing, as much as they might try and convince the rest of us otherwise.

I guess it all depends on whether or not you will end up with the clocks close to the bars (where they should be) and the headlight hanging halfway over the front wheel, which is what it I imagine it would be, if you still had a fairing.

For what it's worth, I thought the GPZ looked great and you didn't use the subframe then......

I'll be going for the Speed four kind of look, with the lights and clock on a subframe, independent of the forks, if i can.

If not, looks like i'll be doing some chopping, and mounting a headlight onto the forks.

That's the look I had in mind, with the lamp(s) tucked under the clocks.

I reckon you'll need to ditch most of the frame, but let's see what it looks like without the fairing.

Just to be different, I'd be thinking about a single rectangular lamp, maybe from a Kwak GT550, or similar........

Square lights will look crap as the Triumph is a very 'round' bike.

I have just had a look on my Photobucket these are likely to be the most helpful.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/chris-red/579c8f56-1.jpg

My thread might have better ones but a lot of them are facebook pics which are blocked here so I can't see.

https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=158569&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

IIRc there is a metal 'arm that bolts directly onto the frame, which comes out between the forks and holds the clocks/lights/pixie hat.

Beats dominators any day though. I'm sick of seeing the vile little pieces of crap stuck on every Bandit ever made.

Cheers for the pics chris, it is a little different from the TT

Could just get one big 7" round headlight.

Wouldn't look too bad methinks.

i've got an old one in the shed i'll bodge on to see what it'll look like when i get the chance.

Fazer is a more 'square' bike than the TT, fair enough yours suits the lights on it, i think it looks epic Thumbs Up

But the TT wouldn't look right.

Now take the fairing off the the Triumph and look what you're left with.

Apart from the rounder knee holes on the tank, those two bikes are remarkably similar; the Trumpet even has a straighter front mudguard.

https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC00017-2.jpg?t=1301673849

Or do i go for the round headlight:

Can you get a bigger round headlight? That would look good. Something from a bandit or Hornet.

Right

Consider buying Speed Four the Air intake scoops too, they will make it look much better.

The Speed four relocates the coolant bottle behind the RHS rear panel. If you had a S4 coolant bottle you could to the same.

If you want a loud can, the follow fit as long as they are 3 bolt.

ZX6R Circa 1998-2000
ZX4/7/9R Pre 2000
Bandit 1200 pre 2001
RF900
RF600?
Speed Four
Daytona 600/650

Thumbs Up
