this is a fault i have with my 1990 tzr 125 ive had the carb apart and fitted new jets etc and cleaned it out fitted new plug and coil ,it starts fine but after a few seconds it starts to misfire a bit and as you can see it bogs down and will not rev up but it still ticks over

Its not a fuel supply issue all checked.

The only way I could get it to rev was by putting the circlip up a notch to the thord which drops the need down a bit. now it revs but back fires pops and bangs. Any ideas?

thats a timing issue then

2nd that, the timing is out of wack and backfiring and all sorts. Also check your 2 stroke oil is pumping or use premix for testing.

if its CDI then there is not much that can be done, but its worth checking the timing to make sure its not out of wack. If you have the workshop manual then its useful to get a strobe light or similar to check the CDI is not playing up.

Was the bike running ok prior to this?

Have you tried fresh petrol, i meant proper fresh petrol straight from the pump and home straightaway and test it. Mine has water in it and it did exactly the same thing in my GP100, no power and would never run right!

Try a new plug and make sure its the correct one. Some new plugs are known to be duff from new! It can be electrical so make sure nothing is vibrating loose either and the cap on the spark plug is on firmly.
