Hi all im new to this site been on as a guest for some time.
Any way my little 2001-m1 cg 125 has a starting issue it will start in cold
Or first thing in the morning no problem with less than 2 seconds on the starter
And runs really good for a 125 but when the engine is in full working temp and
I stop for a min with the engine off I try and start it but it seems reluctant
To start it can take up to 10 seconds on the starter.
Is it some type of carbon build up Crying or Very sad
I have done the valves to 0.008 it has new oil. I have changed the exhaust gasket
For a copper compression one when I took the clutch cover off to inspect the clutch
And oil pump when I first got it about 2 months ago. It has a new spark plug in and it looked in good condition colour wise so it’s not lean or rich.

Just don’t get why it is doing this or is it just the character of the bike. Question

Thanks in advance peeps Very Happy

new spark plug, air filter replaced? Its normally points to the sign of needing the basic service done. Normally a new plug cures this. Try adding a touch of throttle when starting from hot. It does help as the mixture is too rich for a hot engine at closed throttle when starting

iirc engines run leaner the hotter they get due to technical things i dont/cant be bothered to understand, maybe your running a touch lean then as the bike heats up the mixture becomes more lean thus making it harder to start. the 10seconds on the starter must even out the mixture and allow your bike to start, i had a similar thing on a pit bike a while ago, see what raising the needle/dropping the clip does or if it has any effect atall Thumbs Up

make sure the plug is right, a DPR8EA-9

P= projected insulator (tip is longer)
9= 0.9mm plug gap

as a DR8EA and DR8ES will fit and work, but the spark is higher up and smaller

right have had another look at the plug and it is a 8 gap on the plug not 9 so have got a new one will let you all know how i get on and i have also got a 9 up from 8 on the heat rating so a colder plug as i do a lot of dual carriage ways not much at slow speed or idle i average about 50 - 60 mph over 15 miles so can only do good. lets see how i go
thanks for all the help Very Happy Thumbs Up Dance!
