went to a bike mechanic to ask about looking at the brake light, as i stated in one of my previous threads the back light works but not the brake light.
he said chances are its the brake switch and to follow the connections from the front or rear brake to try and find it, for the life of me i cant find a switch anywhere.
does anyone know where it is, or even what it looks like?
see my sig for bike model

Have you checked the bulb first?? if it's not working on either brake it might be that and save a lot of digging round the wiring.

It should have seperate switches on the front and rear brake lever/pedal, not likely that both have failed at the same time so you're looking at tracing the wiring back from the light looking for a break/duff connector. Take it you haven't got a wiring diagram.

the front one is usually a micro switch in the brake leaver the rear one usually conects to the brake pedal...it maybe behind the frame and check your fuses it could be that

had a look all over cant find a broken connection a fair amount of bodged connections ie: insulating tape.
havent got a wiring diagram, where would i get one? although id probably not be able to make head nor tale of it, electrics isnt my strong point but the last thing i want to do is get an auto spark at ££ per hour for something that is probably a simple fix.
the bike passed an mot not long ago so must have been working at some point, guy i bought it off mentioned he replaced the rear pads so maybe he took something out and forgot to put it back in? but like i said i cant find anything disconnected

how many fuses does a bike usually have? i can only find 2 next to the battery, both are fine.

It does vary, mine has one next to the battery and four mounted under a cover on the handlebars (but mine is a larger bike). Had one a few years ago that had five mounted under a cover on the front fork brace (the whole assembly used to rot to hell because of rain and shit hitting it full on - nice one yamaha!)

If it comes on from the front brake but not the rear then the rear switch just needs adjusting. If it comes on from neither it's either the fuse or wiring. A soldering iron, length of wire and a spare hour or 2 will have it fixed.

If you don't have a manual it says there is a free download of it here:
https://www.apriliafutura.co.uk/v2/index.php?view=article&catid=34:servicing&id=98:workshop-manuals&format=pdf
Not sure if it is the one for your bike but its worth a go.

Its usually a dip stick mounted in the top of the engine case or it might just have a cap and a viewing window, But i've never owned that model so can't say for sure. If the manual is the right one it will tell you how to check it in the routine mountance section.
