Hey all, do you reckon this will fit a suzuki TS250ER?
the plugs are the same, and its a 250 engine, and a suzuki.....

Trying to figure if mines actually a cdi engine, a bike place i have been on the phone to deduced it to be a 79-83 model but couldnt decide whether it should have a cdi or nott...?

I looked at the wiring diagrams of the TS250 and GT250X7. The CDI of the GT may be work i a TS250, because the GT is a paralell twin. I do not know if the ignigtion advance triming will work correct, the stroke of TS and GT are different. The TS has 64 mm stroke and 70mm bore and a singel fire ignition coil, the GT has 54mm stroke and 54mm bore and a double fire ignition coil. Otherwise I drive a Kawasaki GPZ600 with a GPZ900 ignition box. It works, only the RPM limiter is 1000 RPM earlier.

So what do you risk if you buy the CDI for 10 Pounds? In the worst case it does not fit and you burned 10 Pounds. From 1972 to 1981 Suzuki used two differend CDI units for the TS250, Nipon Denso and Kokusan.

Hmm so how do i deduce which cdi unit is for mine?

This look right? Is for a TS250 ER which i suspect mine is.

I would have thought you start by pulling the rusty fly wheel rotor and looking for a pair of points.....

If you find some.... you dont need a CDi....

If you don't find some.... then either they are missing, or you need a CDi.

TS250, was Suzuki's generic 'dirt bike' in the late 60's & early 70's, and the basis for thier early compers. The Scramblers were slightly more successful than the trial bikes, which were over weight and ill tuned. Suzuki attempted, to make them more 'useful', but ultimately it wasn't until Beemish did a full trials chop job on one they came anywhere near close to working, and suzuki gave up, and 'licenced' the Beemish special.

This is an irrelevence to you, OTHER than; my starting point would be, knowing that they used the TS motor in the Beemish, to call Sammy Miller.... 'Old Dirt donks iz Uz'..... and have a chat.... they used to do some stuff to support the beemishs, but if they dont anymore, they will know who does.
