if i were to move the carb further from the engine and make the pipe between the carb and engine obviously longer, what affect would this have.
as far as im aware, the theory is one of two things.
either:
-the carb should be as close to the engine as possible for best performance, or
-the distance between the carb and the engine is a specified amount worked out at the design stage and shouldnt be moved around by someone like me |

I would imagine if a carb was far from the engine, it would be a cunt to start, and would respond with a bit of a delayed reaction. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. If you lengthen the intake then its better for more top end power but less responsive lower down.Shortening the pipe will result in snappier acceleration but will result in more power at top end,
Thats for 4 strokes anyway. Most maufacturers tune the length for optimal compromise . ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs.
