Very nice bikes, I used to have one of those but I'm after something similar thats maybe chopped or ratted. It would break my heart to buy a minter and chop it myself. ____________________ Check out our tackle shop on Facebook:

I've had one mate, they are ok but still pricey for what they are. Even looked at zrx1100's as they are a bit newer but retro styling.
I guess I just want something a little different. ____________________ Check out our tackle shop on Facebook:

Bit of a shite bag for the price. You can get better for less. Get your ass over to a braker and get something to build. More fun riding something knowing you built this. |

I got my CB750 'Retro' for pocket money, £500, err... cant REALLY be, seven years ago can it?!?!? Anyway, they are still just as cheap, if you look about. Zephyrs are similarly 'cheap'. Neither will set the world alight, but they are a great place to start playing.
But define 'Muscle-Bike', and how much '80's?
My VF1000, is an 80's bike.... loved it to bits (litterally!) See them go occassonally for pennies. 'Jelly Mold' CBR1000's are 80's bikes too.... as are ZZR1100's... both offer a heck of a lot of bike for very little money. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

Hi Mike, I know what you mean. To answer 'muscle' I guess I mean not a 'plastic fantastic' but with a bit of grunt and on the large and bulky side.
bikemad you have been pm'd. ____________________ Check out our tackle shop on Facebook:

Sort of rules out the Jellymould CBR & ZZR, on the plastic front
VF-Though, isn't too plasticky. Bikini Fairing & Belly pan, exposed engine... and BOY what an engine! Only 120bhp, but GRUNT and BULK are the two things that define the fecker! If you avoid the classic hopefuls, you can find pretty good ones for £1200 tops, and runners for half that. May be worth having a look at. People still deride them for having chocolate cams, but that was the 750, and being evil handling..... mostly be people that never rode them, or only rode them briefly. Never heard a long term VF-Though owner say anything other than 'I miss it', which says a lot! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

Worth a thought Mike, I'll have a look at some and maybe try and view one in the flesh.
iCraig, the 900r's are ok but slant on the 'racey' side. I want a big old 1 litre plodder rather than a highly strung crutch rocket.
I've had them and the bigger variants, the 1000's were ok (the rx) but again it's the plastics.
Having rode both styles for many years I just prefer the naked bikes to be honest. ____________________ Check out our tackle shop on Facebook:

Ok, so this guy got back to me:
https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140574107837&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
It's the xs850 triple and to be honest in terms of looks etc it's just what I'm after.
However, there are a few problems.
It's broken down on him a couple of times and he doesn't know how to fix it. Basically it starts and runs but after a while (he reckons approx 20-30 miles) it splutters, stalls and won't start for a few minutes.
What do you reckon? Crap in the tank? air leaks?
I reckon at a push I could walk away with it for 800 - no mot but that doesn't worry me. ____________________ Check out our tackle shop on Facebook:

£800 for something that needs plenty of fiddling with is one thing,
£800 for a yam motor in an aftermarket frame thats registered as a Norton is another
not sure id be tempted to potentially chuck 800 quid away if vosa were to pull you up and inspect it and dvla snatch's the v5 back |

I asked him about that. A mistake on his part. He's had it a couple of years and it's been through two mot's in his ownership.
In fact if you look at his feedback he got a neg about a year ago for this bike as it sold for a grand and he refused to sell it, telling the guy he sold it to someone else lol.
He has said I'm welcome to check it out with dvla etc but I'm not sure how to go about that.
Chris Ireland apparently works for Desperate Dan customs so it should be a tidy frame. It has a goldwing back end. ____________________ Check out our tackle shop on Facebook:
