Where are you advertising?
How much are you asking?
Are the photos any good?

Infact post up a link to the advert so we can make some suggestions or wet ourselves laughing Wink

For that amount of money, you can get alot more bike. I have just bought a ZXR400 with 13000miles on the clock, all bearings and seals replaced and head gasket done for 920 quid.
Also, place an ad on the ZXRworld forums.

Its too much money for a mint ZXR400. I was looking for one a few months back but I was looking at the £1200 range and I was looking at some VERY nice bikes. In the end I decided I couldn't even afford that much and bought a FZR400RR for £675.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Shocked Shocked TWO AND A HALF GRAND! Shocked Shocked
Yeah! OK... think there in lies your problem. HALVE that and you are somewhere in the realms of reality.
MAY be a nice bike, may be a GREAT bike, but it's nothing THAT special. ZX4's are NOT wonderfully rare, even if that made them any more desirable, let alone valuable. And Modded / Accessorised ones?!?! Well mods tend not to add value but detract from it.
As said, there are plenty of bikes that any-one wanting an early years sportsbike, whether on restricted licence or not could choose from.
People that want 400's usually also want 'Cheap' or they would be going for 600's. That kind of money gives PLENTY of scope for finding 600's.... and is just hugely optimistic of what most 400 buyers will be willing to spend.

Best bet is trade it in with a dealer, who will sell it at around £2k

If you're lucky he'll give you £1.4k

I bought my 1st ZXR400 (1991) with something like 25k on the clock, along with another non-running zxr400 for 1500 quid.
Sold the runner for 1500 a year later, after i had ragged it within an inch of its life and had a load of engine work done.
The reason i got 1500 for it was due to the silly amount of work carried out on it, and it looked fukin wikid.

I went to a dealer and asked how much i would get for part-ex, i was told £400. I laffed in his face and turned up a week later on a newer, bigger bike.

FWIW i dont think the OP will be back in any time soon.

I was going to spend £1500-1800 for ZXR400.. but then I found out that it's a CBR600 territory and I'm not sure whether I still want it.

I wouldn't pay two and a half grand for ZXR400, there are so many better bikes for that price.

Go for 1000-1500 seems that you can get really nice ones for that.

Umm.. 2.5k is a lot. Mine was 98, 14k miles, mechanically sound but bodywork was awful (all original like), full of scratches from beginner days, scratches on the rear fairings from panniers rubbing, cracked headlight fairing with road grazes on each corner, leaky fork seal, scratches on levers etc.. I put it up for £1k on bike trader (not expecting to get that at all) 2months left on tax & MOT, was sold and collected in 6 days for £950. Had brand new tyres on too though, so it was fair-ish I reckon. Went to someone who'd just passed and really wanted a zxr400 and said they'll only end up throwing it down the road anyway... Smile
