just spent 50 quid for someone to replace a cvt clutch for me on my speedfight 50 cc moped , due to the fact it was slipping , before it was all fooked it got around 35 mph easy and could go up quite steep hills , however now im afraid it gets to about 30 on the straight and gets half way up the hills , =/ im not sure if its the new clutch or something just need a proper moped mechanic to look at it. with it being my only source of transport it is lacking power im very lucky if it reaches 30

also * i know people will be saying " mopeds are only supposed to go 30mph ", but if it went 35/40 before something is wrong i just need some advise Crying or Very sad

Or maybe you haven't taken it 'easy' for the first couple of hundred miles to bed the clutch in and the slippers are now glazed, or you haven't given it a chance to bed in.

Remove the clutch cover, find a makeup mirror, check clutch shoes with that mirror.
Any uneven wear?
Is the clutch bell purple?

Measure the width of the belt. (on about 4 different places)
Download a workshop manual and check if your belt width is within specs.
Your belt should be grease free and has no cracks or other damage.

BTW probably your mechanic did not turn the variator by hand as he was tightening the bolt. This causes variator pulley to compress against the belt.
Search youtube for "cvt belt". You'll have a better idea.
