was that the drain plug? looks like a job for chemical metal to me mate, tip her up so its no longer dripping out, give it a swill with some carb/brake cleaner/petrol and fill the hole up or stick the bolt in with quicksteel or similar..
or take the bus lol ____________________ Hyosung cruise 125(passed test on, sold) Kawasaki el 252 (better than expected but sold on) Kawasaki GPZ500S first "big"bike.(sold) ZZR600 E5..Z750 2007,ER5, currently on a 2008 Enfield bullet electra x and loving it..

Yeah it was.
Need to get a new sump now, i'd rather not risk it with chemical metal and the like, then dumping the oil all over the rear tyre at 70+.

B&Q do some chemical metal with a temp of 150 degrees, it's worked on one of my sump plugs after I stripped the thread out of the bottom of the engine, sticks like shit to a blanket...
This is on a bolt and washer though, how you'd get on with it being a gaping crack ( snigger ) I have no idea Dunc... ____________________ Previous Bikes...Honda NSR 125 RR...Kawasaki Zephyr 550...Suzuki SV 1000 S...Yamaha FZ8...Current Bike...Suzuki GSX-R 750... |

I don't think you would necessarily need to re-tap it Rob?
And if you did, you wouldn't need a full set, just a single M12 finishing tap wouldn't set you back more than a quadruple Jack Daniels at a reasonably priced bar.
Personally I would carefully cut some marks in the cracked surfaces to provide additional surface area, prep it with whatever you have to hand (WD40, soap, hot water) and then try liquid metal. I'd be surprised if it doesn't work but clearly the problem will be not re-cracking it when you torque the bolt back up. I'd be tempted to replace the crush washer with an O-Ring.
Whilst you do this insert an M12 thread into the hole so that the liquid metal can't muck the threads up, if you remove it a bit before the metal sets it will come out properly later. ____________________ Yamaha SZR660 Caution to the wind, the throttle pinned! |

That's creepy, I did exactly the same thing recently except I hit my sump on a kerb!
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v331/serenaur/IMG_8515.jpg
Probably not much help but I was able to source a second hand sump at a good price by emailing every single breaker on ebay that listed any part for my bike (and some that didn't, I was a bit desperate!) and by putting the feelers out on the owners club forum, basically anywhere that stocked any part for my bike or where other people might know where to find one.
It's not like you've got a rare bike so just keep trawling ebay/breakers and you'll find a cheap one soon enough ____________________ Now: '00 Kawasaki ZRX1100R - Past: '84 Yamaha DT125, '89 Kawasaki KLR600, '97 Yamaha XJ600N
