braided lines - goodridge or HEL?

anyone have any experience with these companies? also couldn't find any information about warranties for the goodridge kit. goodridge kit comes with zinc plated mild steel, HEL is completely stainless and comes with full lifetime warranty.

Goodridge do several different finishes I think. Just do not under any circumstances buy any with alloy fittings (not sure they are even available anymore).

I would be equally happy with either in stainless steel. But if the shinyness didn't bother me for that bike I would be inclined to save money and have the plated fittings.

I've always used HEL and they've been great

Had some Goodridge lines on the RSV which didn't have the plastic covering. Not sure if they were cheaper because of this or if Goodridge never supply them without the cover, but when they're just bare braided lines they can chew into mudguards & fork legs if they rub.

Hel kits direct from Hel are normally more expensive than from elsewhere.


As it happens I have HEL lines, they are very well made, look nice etc etc etc..

The last set of lines I bought were Hel and made up by a seller on eBay. They worked out quite cheap but were the plain ones without the braided sheath.

Sounds like Hel is cheapest direct, but also double check both are the same kit (ie, 2 line / 3 line).

In use there should be no difference between Hel and Goodridge if you buy the same spec. But Goodridge do more specs of kit.

stock is 2 lines straight from the master cylinder on my bike. there is no y-splitter.

That is a surprise. Pretty unusual to do it like that on a production bike (adds about 1/3 more length of hose to expand).

It is cheaper though. If they are desperate to save costs. The pipe costs next to nothing compared to the fitting, banjo bolts and the splitter.

Race style makes it sound like they are better. Rather than just complying with a requirement for racing that they hoses can't split below the bottom yoke.

Had Goodridge line on the GPZ, and currently have HEL lines on the Bandit.
In my experience, the quality, performance and visual appearance is all VERY similar... however I prefer to go stainless with fittings, cos I ride all year round, and want to reduce the likelihood of corrosion etc

i have also decided to go with stainless fittings. really couldn't deal with the corrosion as i ride all year.
goodridge with stainless fittings is £48.
HEL is £50 with coloured PVC shield and coloured stainless fittings.
the prettier ones won it for me, plus they had lifetime warranty. still unable to find warranty info about goodridge lines
